What do you think about the overtime rule in football? | | I've been listening to the conversation on espn radio for a few months on how there needs to be a change on how the overtime rule needs to change. Many like myself think it is not fair that a team in the NFL gets a chance to end the game with a field goal. They also talk about college football rules, which is a joke. Each team gets the ball at the 25 yard line, and the game never ends because it's too easy to either kick a field goal or score a touchdown. Both the NFL and college need to make changes. The thing that pisses me off is all the silly ideas I have been hearing the fans suggest on sports radio. This morning I was listening to Warner Wolf's show and heard some ridiculus ideas on how the overtime should be played. One guy said they should do a shoot out like in hockey and have both teams kick 60 yrd field goals. Another guy said that both teams should kick off, and the team that returns the ball the farthest, gets the ball 1st and gets to start where they returned the kick off to. Out of all of these callers, I have yet to hear someone come up with an idea that has the most common sense yet! To me, I think that they should just play an extra shortened overtime quarter. Something like 7 or 8 minutes. And the winner is the team who has the lead at the end. I say make them play until there's a winner.
