My Dog Got A New Fence For Christmas  | | | |  We have a 1 yr old black Lab mix. He broke through our original fence, trying to get a cat. It really was not a large area for him to run, as it was closing in the pool. He is a sort of hyper, wiry kind of dog. He is always full of energy. Fence is extremely expensive, especially to keep in a strong, hyper dog. We finally fenced in a larger part of the yard, so he can safely run and play. He was so happy yesterday, when my husband put it up. He just ran and ran and ran. It was well worth the money we spent.

| |  Wow.... merry christmas to your dog. I wish I could afford a big one for one. He's a mini retriever (if there's anything as such, he look like a lab but he's too small, slightly larger than a spitz), and very energetic. I would like to see him run free or at least move freely in his cage and not leashed.

| |  We have an english mastiff and decided it necessary to put up a fence since she was strong enough to pull any kind of stake we'd tried right out of the ground. We didn't have a ton of money, so opted for a 4' chain-link fence... she's 4' tall and 200 lbs, but can't jump because of her size... we thought it would work... Unfortunately, she's so strong she just plowed right through the darn thing! My husband even stretched the chain-link with his truck and she's still strong enough to push right through/under it. -- It's pretty crazy watching a dog of her size slide right under the fence!
I feel your pain... wish we would have just spent the extra money for a good fence!
