| |  We recently acquired a Guinea Pig as a pet for out little girl. She named him Ernie.
I was surprised by how pet like they really are. I was expecting a gerbil or mouse sort of creature.
I was not expecting a creature that grunted at me like alittle pig, repeatedly until I paid attention to him sitting beside me and pet him again.
I wasn't expecting a little creature that know the moment my husband rounds the corner to come home from work at night and starts little squeling noises until he comes in and gives him some veggies from the fridge.
I really thought it was ust a mindless rodent.. It is not at all.. Ernie is as good as a dog! Maybe better!

| |  Very cool! Glad to hear your piggie now has a friend now.
I've had a couple of hamsters before. I seem to have bad luck though... either I get a pregnant one or an old one. I've had good luck picking up shelter hamsters for other people though oddly enough.

| | I once had a very nippy hamster. He so did not like being touched. My expectations were very high ... I mean like 'come sit in my palm, let me stroke your pincful fur, maybe squeeze ya a bit' lol. And then one day he wanted to draw more blood than he needed ... lol. Now he lives happily everafter with my best friend. He has told her that I should not be invited for dinners.

| | I once pet sat a little hamster named Gigabyte. After 3 months when I returned the little guy to his owner, I told her to change the name to GigaBITE! That was a mean little hamster!
At least all the hamsters I've had have been nice and friendly. Just pregnant or old! | | | |

| | My kids have a guinea pig name RJ. Don't know where they got the name, and I call it the overgrown rat. It's cage is next to the puter, and it's squeeking at me right now. He is kinda cute though, I have to admit. And he's super soft. I like to pet him, but my gosh, he sheds worse than the cat! | | | | | | |
