Would you be the "Ginea pig' for an experimental procedure or experimetal drug? email this discussion to a friend?

If your answer is yes, please state under which conditions you would subject yourself. Remember now an experimental procedure is one in which the outcome is not known however what if you had a terminal disease and this is a possible cure?. Would you be willing to wait for an established procedure or try this one? What if this procedure could worsen your situation? What if you were given a few days by the experts of the day?

Maybe you have a softer view of experimental drugs? After all you will be paid for trying these drugs? and you have the chance of saving millions of lives if this drug works?

So what are the issues you would consider before making this decision, selfless contribution to the human race or personal remuneration for testing the drugs or maybe you have other reasons, please let us know your thoughts on this issue?

If it meant some dreadful disease could be wiped out then yes,but don't you have to have something wrong with you to take part anyway. An old neibour of mine had a massive stroke when her first daughter, but recovered fully by some miracle. On the birth of her second daughter she was not so lucky and suffered terrible facial disfigurment and mobililty problems and she used to be the London stroke victims guinea pig she tried everything going, like she used to say she had nothing to lose, she was so brave. She used to carry around a photo to show people what she looked like before her stroke and she was a young Elizabeth Taylor .She was a stunner, but her beauty was reversed and we could see her inner beauty and that shone,so yes I would try anything and do anything if I could stop this happening to anyone else.I have also like a lot of people have friends and family suffering awful diseases and It could be me next,I feel it is our duty to try these drugs out if it is of benefit to someone elses sister, brother, mum etc.x

Thats very brave and noble of you, many persons would not want to make this sacrifice for themselves much less others, even if something was wrong with them. Some persons like your friend would take part because they have nothing to loose. The truth be told I dont know if I like the idea of being experimented on either,I like the working for the common good but not sur eif I would be brave enough

I think that this depends on the situation. I would never be a part of an experimental group unless I had a terminal condition and either the current treatments were ineffective or there were no treatments available.

It would be a difficult decision if the experiment could possibly make the situation worse. I also think that the amount of time you would be given to live would affect my decision. If I were only given a short time to live, I think I might try the experiment. If I were given a long time to live, I think I would wait and see if the drug would be approved by the FDA.

I don't think that the payment would change my decision because I would be putting my life on the line. You can't buy another one of those lol.

Either way, I hope that I am never put in the situation that I would have to make this type of decision.
