HELP, I need an anti-virus for my laptop! |
|
I have no anti-virus in my computer. I got some files downloaded to my laptop and then copied the same files to my USB and put the USB to a computer in the internet cafe. When I used the USB in my laptop again, some files were deleted. When I checked my USB for viruses, it shocked me for all files were "infected" with viruses. I'm afraid my laptop also has a virus. Anyone can help me where to get a free anti-virus? What is the most effective anti-virus? Thanks.

dorisday1971 (1576) | 7 months ago | Can I use Avast together with another anti virus,, I mean like AVG or nORTON?
| |
|
|
MichaelCorleone (218) | 7 months ago | Come on friend!!! why do u need 2 anti virus softwares? They will just eat into your resources, especially your RAM!!! If you have NORTON, then better not go for the FREE ones Just keep updating it regularly

Barb42 (2668) | 7 months ago | You shouldn't need 2 anti-virus programs. We've had Norton and never would use it again. It does not catch as much as Avast. My husband used AVG for a long time, and found now that Avast is even better than AVG. But I suppose it's whatever you like or get used to. It's just that Norton has given us problems.

bittertruth (105) | 7 months ago | You guys are noob or what? this guy is running all over the internet without Antivirus. He might not even know there is anything like firewall and anti-spywares. on top of that, there are lots of bogus and rogue security softwares pretending as a security softwares which I'm sure this guy is totally unaware of. And, you guys are telling him to get 2 or 3 antivirus in one system. You guys are terrible. I've not followed other pages..but I'm here giving you some advice. You go online without antivirus and firewall, anything you do on that computer is not safe at all after 1 hour or sooner than that. I've personally caught many port sniffer's/scanner's incoming links on my firewall softwares giving try to find any glitches and possibly attacking your system if their luck is at charm. Go and download: Avg Free AntiVirus (search on google) Spybot search and Destroy (anti spywares) Comodo Firewall (search on google) Always keep loaded your computer with those stuffs I've mentioned above. Best of luck.

Barb42 (2668) | 7 months ago | I don't see where anyone has advised him to get 2 or 3 anti-virus programs in one. The Advanced Windows care is not an anti-virus program like AVAST, which is the one I advised him to get. It's better than AVG, which both my husband and I have used for a long time, until it stopped getting everything that came through. Avast has. AWC does lots of things, such as checking the register, finding miners, etc. By the way, what did you mean with the sentence "You guys are noob or what?" I have no idea what you are talking about.

5. kaka135 (2528) | 7 months ago | I am currently using avast home edition for my personal computer, which is free for personal use. I find it quite useful, also it has daily update, so it always helps you to protect your computer from the latest virus. It always comes with spyware protection. You can download the program here: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html If you prefer, you can download this AVG free edition too. [http://free.avg.com/]

6. Kumaresan (378) | 7 months ago | hello there friend... i suggest you to try kaspersky internet security... it's the best anti-virus ever... it scans and detects every virus in your computer... it also actively monitors your computer in real-time to prevent any virus getting into your computer... it doesn't take a lot of RAM and computer loads so it's really perfect anti-virus solution for you... another good anti-virus is NOD32's ESET smart security... this anti-virus also good it the scanning and protecting terms... try it both... then you can determine which is best for your computer...

| 9. bliveinurself (93) | 7 months ago | Hi dorisday:) First of all, you should format your USB. If you want to install anti virus on your laptop, just search directly to what ever anti virus you want. For example, if you want avira so just directly go to avira site and download their anti virus there. Im using avira and AVG right now, and it protect my laptop very well. I didn't brought any anti virus, I just download the free version. The important thing is you have to update your anti virus regularly and always scan your USB before you use it on your laptop. Happy caring:) Good Luck!! http://www.download.com/A...
