I have a job interview lined up. Any tips? |
|
I am going back to work after almost 2 1/2 years at home with my son. I have my first interview coming up soon. I am nervous because it's been so long. Can anyone offer me tips or encouragement to help me not be so nervous? Thanks

1. katemeow (598) | 1 year ago | Wow! congratulations on securing an interview:) I am also in the process of looking for a job (i have been a freelancer for a while and plan to go back to the work force) and am a bit nervous on interviews! I think the best tip i can offer to avoid being nervous is to be as honest as possible. also try to keep answers short and direct. I notice that i tend to ramble when nervous so i make a conscious effort to keep it as short as possible to avoid sounding weird! haha:) I also wear comfortable but presentable clothes. good luck to you and hope you get the job:)

3. Margajoe (2140) | 1 year ago | Hi, Be yourself. Remember it is not the only job out there.
By thinking this way, I am not as nervous.
I give it my best and if I don't get the job, I don't. And when I do get the job, Great!
Think of it this way, if you don't get the job, it means there is something better waiting out there for you.
Take care, Success.

| 6. s8tern (77) | 1 year ago | well, i can only emphasis what kate said b4, but i like to add this one tip, or more of an advice really... if the interview is in the morning, eat a light breakfast, dont go on "i`m too nervous i cant keep food down", that`ll only increase you anxiety, same goes for lunch too, also you`ll go early like 10 min ahead of the time, to keep it safe, i know you will, human nature, so the second you are presented to the secretary office ask where the facilities are, and just go like you`ve never gone b4, it`ll make you feel more relaxed, and if you wanna hurl, do that too, helps too my final tip is, get a juice pack, not a big one, and drink it when you`re one block away from the place.... that`s it, hope these tips works for you as they did many b4 and, best of luck...

7. kykidd (4575) | 1 year ago | Congratulations on the interview. The employment market is really tough right now, so kudos to you.
I would suggest smiling as much as possible. And I wouldn't be too quick to respond to answers, don't take forever either, just manage to pause a little bit.
You also might go online, and practice some interview questions. That way you'll be prepared with answers for the most commonly ask questions.
And if they ask you which animal you are more like, a dog, a cat, a lion, or a dolphin, the correct answer is dolphin. I found that out through management.
Break a leg!
