Norton Internet Security Suite 2009  

Could this possible be the best Antivirus Suite for 2009?

Previous users of Norton may be thinking "Why would anyone use Norton? It's been slowing down computers for years!" and this is true. The once great Norton of the '90s has greatly diminished and isn't even listed on the Top 10 Antivirus programs. That was true until now.

With Symantec's release of Norton Internet Security (NIS) 2009, Norton has skyrocketed though the ranks. The previously sluggish Norton has now redeemed itself by providing near perfect security using minimal resources. Even ESET, the previous leader in minimalistic resource use claimed they were surprised to hear Norton's extreme outcome. You can read the rest of ESET's shock here:

Aside from the standard Firewall, Antivirus, and Antispam most suites provide, Norton brings something never heard of before, Identity Protection. Using a system of "Cards and Log-ins" Norton protects all user inputted information, including bank accounts, usernames, and passwords, from phishing sites.

Norton provides top-notch security for home computers for a standard price of $69.99. compared to ESET's Smart Security Suite costing $89.99.

Unfortunately, for all great things, there are downsides. Norton's Anti-Spam for Outlook Express is nearly useless. It provides no help what-so-ever and is fairly difficult to learn to use. The parental controls are fairly simplistic yet ineffective as well. Though undoubtedly the biggest drawback is the terrible customer support from Norton. It's almost impossible to talk to a real employee and when you do, they provide no aid other than "Read the manual" or "Check the Help files".

With award winning antivirus, antispyware and firewall, I'm proud to say I'm a NIS 2009 user. Congratulations Symantec!
