| My daughter gave me a new mixer for Christmas because my old one was a real joke..Held together with duck tape and even then we had to hold the cord in or it would stop..It was also very heavy because it was actually one of those that was on a stand and you put the bowl under it, except that part broke a long time ago.. So now I have this very light and smaller mixer that makes great mashed potatoes without much effort.. So the first thing I did was throw out the mixer, it was not good for anything..But the beaters are still good..I was wondering if these could be used for anything or just something to throw away.. | | | | | |

| | Do the beaters not attach to the new mixer? It sounds like you had a kitchen aid. I'm not sure if they will fit in any other blender or not, but I would still keep them for mixing cake batter or something like that. The thing about scrapped stuff is you never know when it comes convenient! | | | | | | |

| | No, the older mixer was much bigger, the beaters don't fit..And it could have been a kitchen aid brand, but I can't remember.. | | | |

| | Maybe it would be good just to keep them as one day you might come across someone that has a good mixer but the beaters are no good, that sort of thing has happened to me in the past after I have gotten rid of the parts they could have used of course...or maybe put them aside with other stuff you don't need and take them to an op shop or something, someone might find use for them... | | | | | | |

| | You know, I could give them to the local clothing bank, they also accept household things and if someone needs something like that, they can get it there..Thanks for the idea.. | | | |

| | Go to Freecycle.org, find a Freecycle group near you, and post your beaters on the site. If you can't think of something to use them for, you never know what someone else might like them for. I can't exactly think of anything, but whenever I have something half way decent that I don't want anymore, even if it's broken I offer it up, because you never know. | | | | | | |

| | Oh yeah, I am a member of freecycle, but then I would have to see about going through the trash to double check at least the brand name..Maybe I will do that, just to see if anyone would need them..:) | | | |

| | If that's too difficult you could just post that you don't know the brand name. Someone may have another use for it. I know there are lots of people who use things like that for crafts or art. Some people are welders or can melt it down for something. I mean you really just never know. | | | |

| | Do you have a freecycle or a craigslist in your area? Maybe someone has a mixer like your old one that works but no beaters. | | | | | | |

| | That is what the katsmeow had said..So I may go double check the brand name and try that first before taking it to the clothing bank.. | | | |

| | Sometimes you can find someone who has beaters just like yours and they could use them. The round egg part could be cut off from the extra metal shaft and you could decorate or hide the metal parts with yarn, glue (that sticks to metal) and glitter, something and put a bird or something in it and it looks like a bird in a cage. Since it's like a bird in a cage, you could probably just leave the metal the way it is for that matter. The metal shaft that's extra cold probably be cut into small metal pieces and then not sure if the could be bored out to create metal beads or what. Maybe blue the metal onto the wood of something and put a small replica of a bird or something. It could look like a bird perching on something in water if you put blue paper at the bottom and pieces of broken glass on top of the paper. Maybe the entire thing could be turned into a bell. Cut the wires near the end and bend them back, then weave some silver material in and out all around and the shaft could be left on this time for a handle for the bell, but inside the bell, maybe cut a little shorter and a clapper put in. Not sure how or if any of this would work. I'm just using my imagination. Some things I imagine can't be done. Sometimes they can. But your husband probably could tell you which ones could be used and which can not. Ask around to see if there is an appliance recycler or a metal recycler in your area. We have one of each and call them to see what they can do for you. Take care and I hope you find something reall cool to do with them and tell us what you do with them. | | | | | | |

| | Wow! Did I make a lot of errors! Cold instead of could, reall instead of really, etc. Sorry about that. Good thing you asked while I'm working at PetSmart and during the X-mas time or I probably wouldn't have come up with much of anything. Take care | | | |

| | I'm glad that you got a new mixer but the frugal gene in me would probably rear its head so if the old mixer was working then I would keep it. But I am not imaginative to think of anything that you could do with the beaters. So just bin it! Blessings | | | | | | |

| | I think I am somewhat frugal too, but this was put together with duck tape and I still had to not only hold the mixer, but hold in the plug which meant I had to stop mixing in order to scrap the sides..It was pretty bad, it needed to go.. | | | |

| | I doubt the beaters have the same end as a drill bit to do anything like that. But good idea if I could.. | | | |

| | Just cut the ends of them, leave enough to lock into the drill chuck. It does work Ive done it. even with the little mixer beater things. In hotels and large Kitchens we/they use drills, and large beater into them. Between the drill and the beater we use a plastic (round disc)gaurd, A bit like a rat stopper thing they use on the ropes from ship to shore, (this stops the redents and the unwanter going to the ship and the unwanted coming ashore from the ship. This on the drill stops stuff dropping from the drill into what-ever you are mixing. HICCUP/ | | | |

| | i say .. donate them to a second hand store. if someone can use them, they will find them there. If you keep them they will just be one more thing to take up space and you will never get rid of them lol. If things dont have a use i toss them. saves on clutter. mostly! | | | | | | |

| | Second had stores do not want stuff that is not working. They do not fix things as a rule and just chuck it in the garbage. Would you want to go into a second hand store and pay for something not working? Time for the garbage. | | | |

| | Well guys I am going to do neither..I can do what writer said, turn them into a bird cage and the bottom part would be perfect to stick in a potted plant, like a bird in the middle of a jungle of greenery..I think it would make a nice gift next year, except I may keep one for myself..lol | | | |

| | I would save the beaters. You could use them to stir up eggs for scrambled eggs or for mixing other things also that does not require the mixer. | | | | | | |

| | I already have a hand whisk to do those kind of jobs..I think I am still stuck with putting a bird inside them and then sticking them into a potted plant..I think it would make a great gift, good enough that I may only give one away and keep the other.... | | | |
