Would You Donate An Eye? |
|
Without dying?
You'd still be able to see out of one eye, and someone else would get to see out of one eye.
Would you do it?

1. Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | I might. For some people in my life, yes, I would. No doubts.
I don't know that I'd be so generous with someone I didn't know. That's a tough one. A kidney for a stranger, yes. But an eye? Tough.

2. gemini_rose (10121) | 1 year ago | I would for my children yes without a doubt, it would be a weird thing to do but for them I would do what I had to do to look after them. For a stranger? No I would not, it is just not something I would be willing to do for someone I did not know.

3. muscles4me (8652) | 1 year ago | I am blessed that I can see even though I can not see well without my glasses, as a matter of fact I would walk into the wall. Plus i am a senior citizen so they would not want my eye so it is hrd for me to answer this. Probably not unless there was alot of money involved that way I could afford to pay for care and help doing things I could no longer do.

plunketear (1232) | 1 year ago | It would have a profound effect on how saw things for the rest of your life, faith. With one eye you lose depth perception. i.e. For example, if driving, and you are coming up behind a car at a stoplight, with one eye, it is very hard to tell distance. You could end up hitting the rear end without realizing how close you were. Just cover one eye and try to judge distance of something in your backyd when you go for a walk. You'll see what I mean.

6. Kashmeresmycat (1283) | 1 year ago | Hi Curly!
Yes, for family members I would, and Kash of course.
Wouldn't it be strange to see yourself looking back at you through your own eye?, lol! Kinda creepy no doubt.
My eyesight isn't the best anymore but it's good enough to see out of. Just don't bend down without your glasses on to pick up that piece of black lint. It's really a spider, ew. Been there, done that, haha.
Happy New Year Curly!

7. plunketear (1232) | 1 year ago | Not for a stranger I wouldn't. Painful truth to a painful question..
What I have done, and was among the very first to do this, was many many years ago when the donation form started coming as part of your drivers licence, I did sign it without hesitation. "All parts, but not for medical study". I did not relish the idea of laying on a med table while a bunch of students laughed or kibitzed, when they should have been getting down to brass tacks. So didn't sign that particular portion. And we KNOW they ALL do that. It is one of the more unpleasant traits of human nature.
My old GF signed it too when I asked her one day, but she refused to let them transplant her eyes, even though she would have been dead.
I'm recalling a song by The Doors...care to guess?

9. vicki2876 (3254) | 1 year ago | If it was for one of my children I would do it in a heartbeat. However I don't think I would be able to donate it to them because we aren't a blood match, but maybe, I don't know how that works. BUT IF I could and it was for my child YES. But for anyone else nope. Not that I am uncaring but because my son is visually impaired I already know that the loss of sight in one eye makes a person much more likely to have injury to the other eye and lose total vision. So though it is a good deed I could likely bee in their boat and need an eye if I did that for them.
