Thank you for you complements, Helen. But I am not a Canon salesman: I own Canon, Panasonic, Sony, and other brands, and I do not have a brand preference, although I do have favourite cameras.

Do not buy a camera based on the manufacturer. Look at the specifications, see how the reviewers rate them (I trust DPreview.com) for the kind of photography that interests you. Make a "shortlist" and then try out the cameras on our short list - any good camera store will help you out with this, and you may have friends with cameras you like. Try not to buy a camera you haven't tried personally.

haha thank you very much for your comment aminul ! i plan to buy when i have enough money ;) as david said, hehe, yes sure he made a free adv. for canon,also a business :D and after viewed all the comments i think david was right,most of people use canon and sony,but i still decide to choose canon :) i still feel canon is more professional than sony in making camera :)

oh really? i thought sony has more color and styles than other famous brand rather its quality. when talk about quality,i know sony is also very famous and good,but compare to some other brands which specilized in producing cameras,i think maybe canon is better :) anyway , i think all depends ,right? :D

Your experience intrigues me, balancer22! I have a Sony Alpha 700 and it is a fine DSLR. But compared with my Canon D50 it lacks features and while its build quality is in the same class, its image quality, especially in difficult conditions and at high ISO is way behind. The latest Sony Alpha 900 has set itself up as the camera for the elite Pro, but both Nikon and Canon have better offerings in the high spec area.

As for Polaroid: fun in the days when they made Instant cameras, but their film cameras were inferior, and I can't find anyone (else) with a good word about their digitals. I'm glad you got one of the few good cameras in their range.

I do not find any big difference between the two cameras but since my wife is not ready to go through the instructions manual and understand the intricacies of using the NIKON camera she is using the CANON which she took time to read understand the functions of the CANON CAMERA. And oops, my wife is not of quarelling or arguing type and she is very understanding, she listens to me and whenever she is not in agreement with me she tells that after some time only so that any argument is avoided. Nice is it not?

oh yeah for me, i also like japanese products, hehe i hope one day people in the world also prefer chinese product :D who knows ?

well i have to say its really very good answer! i cant help to rate your comment as good rate ! yes ur friend is right, but more lens zoom cam always more expensive, and sometimes for our common person,we dont need too many and too professional functions! i just want to take pic clearly! maybe sometimes i may like to use lens zoom,i have to say,seldom :) maybe i just a dull for choosing cameras :D

Hoho. If so, there will be no problem because all you need to think about is the megapixels, the memory, the battery [as I do always ran out of battery:)] and for sure, the most important is the lens. It plays a big role in it.The processor of the lens is far away important than the brand itself.:) Olympus lens processor is said to be a good one too. And again, SAMSUNG L100 has a good les processor too.And, it is affordable. I bpught it at Malaysia and it cost MYR 600 or about USD 150. Cheap isn't? And Nikon is good too.:)
And, guess what, I still want to buy a professional SLR one as I damnly love this kind of art, not only as a memory recorder, but for me, photography is more into the best art for me.:), eventhough I'm studying medicine.^^
