Are you best friends with anyone, two, three, or more? |
|
Is there a small group of people you like to stay in contact with, like a little core group?
I'm wondering if there are any enlightened beings considering what I might be thinking?
Of course the depths of my mind might be a scary place to wonder or wander...;)

2. maroseqf (1426) | 1 year ago | I have many friends and I have kept some as my bestfriends. Well, I do not get to see them anymore especially now that I am just at home, taking care of my three-week old baby. One of my bestfriends who I have met in College has already migrated abroad and we do not get to keep in touch often. Good thing, there is yahoo messenger. Well, I keep in touch with most of my friends through the internet. Sometimes, I even get to talk to them online. Anyway, I really miss hanging out with my close friends and spending time with them out for a movie or a meal. I hope that even if we are living far away from each other, we will still find some time to get together. I hope that they will be around during the baptism of my first-born son.

I hope that our past mistakes will not be repeated and that the children will learn different ways of dealing with their differences.
Peace and Blessings,
Sincerely,
Gary

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 1 year ago | Hi Zuke Princess,
You know a few minds that are all as scary as our minds, lets see should I name names?
Awwww! I don't think not for a minute that I need to do that, how was that? Deep enough or should I dig a little deeper?
I could always do that chew on the shoe thing...
Go ahead sneak around on that one...
I better cool it before I get into trouble, the warden might come along and slap the cuffs upon me... I so hate when that happens... Now mind you I don't mind the cuffs as much as I do that gun pointed at the base of my skull now that could be a traumatizing event and you know what that can lead to don't you?
Little boy pulling on parents pants leg, Daddy? Mommy? daddy? mommy? mommy? daddy? won't you please listen? Okay that is a tear jerker...
Let me turn this all around,
There once was a man from Nantucket... Oh' you heard that one before? I'm sorry, I do apologize... I guess I'll have to come up with something new...
Shhh? Some people think there is nothing that can be new under the sun, but they knew about the internet back in the 40's right?
New, New son, oh' yes that post just above, something new, hmmm?
| |
|
|
zukepr (11799) | 1 year ago | yep that is certainly new nothing like a tiny new little baby I would take the new baby smell over the new car smell any day LOL

5. nannacroc (2370) | 1 year ago | There are a number of odd people I like to stay in touch with. Odd in both senses of the word. One or two are people I've never met physically only through the internet but I seem to have formed a bond with them. Some are people I've worked with. I'm not much for keeping regular contact with people, they seem to come into my life when either I need them or they need me and then the friendship becomes less close.

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 1 year ago | I'm glad to be odd enough to have you in my life at this time and others because it seems I'm going through some stuff that requires a little bit of help from some friendly people.
Thank You and Happy New Year to all,

6. joerhonda (117) | 1 year ago | Good thing we got you here, because we all know....A mind is a terrible thing to waste! LOL!
I'm sure none of us is even coming close to hitting on what you're getting at...LOL! I have a little group of "acquaintances" I keep in touch with, here and there. I have 3 friends...One being my husband. The other 2, girls I have been friends with for years. One of them we have been friends for over 30 years. These are the people I would trust my life with and they could trust me with theirs. I believe with friendship comes trust. Trust is something that is earned over a long period of time...Acquaintances usually don't stay in your life long enough to ever give or gain that trust. With all that said...Happy New Year Gary!

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 1 year ago | Thanks Rhonda,
Actually you are on the right path, I mean for the sake of humanity I would think that everyone is capable of helping to save a life and that we should be able to trust people to help and keep us safe. But you are right there are plenty of people in our world that will do us harm if they can and they will even if they should not.
But the average person is pretty friendly and I'm not talking about those megalomaniacs I'm talking about the average good person who will give you a smile or the shirt off of their back to stop your bleeding or to comfort you in a moment of dire need. There are plenty of good people in this world that are truly friendly and while just acquaintances I would call that person a friend. I would be friendly with sociopaths for the sake of civility but I don't have to make a sociopath my friend.
That leads me to the next part of the question, we have a button to make friends, and we all know what a friend is, someone that we care about and share with. We all have best friends, and these are people that are in a tight knitted framework that we respect and look to for guidance or to share with on a deeper level, the people you think about often, your best friend is actually almost like a family member, you would have dinner with this person if you could. Now I probably have you wondering why I'm on this path. Well I use topic notification for one person I would like to do that for more but I don't want to jam up my e-mail account with a notice for every time someone makes a post on MyLot. I don't mind for the one person but if I added another or three or more, well you see, I like everyone, but I can't follow every person specifically. I like my friends and I love the way the system pulls up my friends comments and discussions, but why not just a small selection of the group to be best friends so that a small group can be created?
There are ways of doing this... But it might be a nice new feature for MyLot to consider...
Just a thought, of course...

joerhonda (117) | 1 year ago | Gary...I thought you were going to come up with some profound words of wisdom with this one! LOL! I was on the right track ok...the right track, that we were all on the wrong track..LOL Ah, but now that we have cut to the chase...yes, you're right, it would be nice if we could do that. I don't get any e-mail notifications for the same reason. I just "try" to remember what things here were important to me to keep up on and who. It would be nice if mylot would come up with a "circle of friends" kinda like Altel does. I'm sure there a way to do it. Maybe you should bring it up to them...only I might word it a little different...LOL!;)

Things will be just fine through out this 2009,
There will be plenty of head scratching though, I'll just have to remember not to scratch the thinning areas...;)
And I can't tell you the last time I held a rabbit in my arms, I love rabbits to have and to hold, I remember a time, but it was long ago and far away.

8. neuronic (186) | 1 year ago | For quite some time I had 3 friends that we've always contacted each other at all time, core group like you said (or just like $ex and city girls). But since I moved emails didn't prove to be a good way to sustain healthy relationship, and unfortunately we don't contact each other so often...

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 1 year ago | E-mail is like message boards, it takes a little time to figure out how to read, and is nothing like talking on the phone or in person.
For some people this electronic communication will be very revealing while others will sit there scratching their head trying to figure out what is going on...
To me, I see great opportunity.
What do you see? It seems you are not like your friends and you might see the same thing that I see.
| |
|
|
neuronic (186) | 1 year ago | I usually use emails instead of calling people. Because every time I call someone I have to ask them if they're OK to talk, plus there's no hard evidence of contact, whereas emails can always be checked and you can always print out the hard evidence to prove you contacted someone if there's a problem. But yeah, my friends obviously don't live in the same world as I do;)

9. wheel416 (668) | 1 year ago | Hi Gary,
Generally, I'm not a very sociable person. It takes me a long time to open up to people and have them get to know me. However, once I do build that particular bond of trust needed for a friendship it's usually there long-term. As somebody else already stated, I tend to have people come and go throughout my life, I personally do not believe that those people are there by coincidence. They are in my life because they have something to teach me or I have something to teach them.
With that being said though, I do have a core group of friends, perhaps five, that I have known for many many years. Even though we have scattered ourselves around and our lives have taken different directions, if they call me up tomorrow or knock on my door. It would be as if no time had passed. It would seem like only yesterday we spoke. That core group of friends, is in that special category of lifelong friends, even if I do not see them for extended periods of time.
As for the Mylot messages, I haven't put anyone on alert. I don't want my e-mail box filled every time someone starts a discussion. I can look back, through the discussions that I've started as well as discussions I've responded to and try to keep track of those I'm interested in.
All the best and happy Mylotting!

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 1 year ago | Hi Wheel,
Thanks for the information, yep there are some very special people that will enter our lives through personal experiences or through this format of electronic communication.
I know what you mean by the messages and putting people on alert or notify when they post. There is are two people that I put on notify. The one brought me to MyLot he is my referral, and the other is one that I would call a very dear friend and an author. I've learned a lot by reading his writings.
I love everyone's discussions, but find that I can't possibly respond to all of them, so I try to get to the ones that I find most interesting.
I know some discussions are flying by that I would love to partake in, but you can see that some of the information I exchange can be rather deep or very involved.
At some points there are times I think I better stop typing and give the person a chance to digest all of this but then I think of something else that I should add and off I go...
Ooops... I think I'm doing it again...
Happy MyLotting,
My eyes are open and looking,
For peace and blessings,
Enjoy,
Gary
