 Have you noticed that the nursery rhymes we grew up with had violence in them? Take for example the classic 'Jack and Jill' here goes...
Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack FELL DOWN and BROKE HIS CROWN
and Jill came TUMBLING AFTER ...
Another example
Rock a bye baby on the treetop
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
When the BOW BREAKS the CRADLE WILL FALL
And DOWN WILL COME BABY (can't remember the rest)

CinderInMySoul (4362) | 12 months ago |  weird isnt it? everytime i hear the RockaBye Baby one i immediatly think of the Simpsons episode where Marge is singing that to Maggie and you see what Maggie's imagination is showing her that the song is about lol! her rocking in a cradle at the top of a tree then a big strong gust of wind sending her falling to her doom LOL!
certainly makes you wonder if when we sing those lullaby's to the little ones, if their little imaginations are running wild with scary thoughts of broken heads and falling!!
