Always Open Yer Mail!!!

Wow!! Lucky you!
I cannot remember anything like that now, may be I didn't have such luck.

This just happened earlier in the week. I thought it was a bill from the phone company, so I put it in the pile of bills I can't pay and forgot about it. They called a couple of days later and asked why I hadn't registered the gift card they sent me! I had no idea there was $50 in that envelope. Now I just wish they'd sent a check instead of a gift card because I could have used it to help pay bills, and now it will just be temptation to shop!

Twice now with Doctor letters faith! Don't let this come in three's now! The 45 bucks was a lucky find indeed and I have not been so fortunate like this from memory. The closest I come is finding the occasional note in my jeans pocket! I don;t get to open ANY of my mail these days anyway as they go to a postal address in Australia! Maybe there are some checks waiting for me!

You are lucky you did not throw it in the garbage bin Faith.
I open my mail as soon as I get it.
Mind you sometimes we do not get our mail until 5.30 pm.
Money, I have never found any unexpected money.
I sure wish I could.

Too bad it pays out a dollar a year for a million years.

Several years ago after I'd left my job as a letter carrier I was really struggling for money because I'd gotten all my accrued sick pay and had no income. I'd been away and had had my mail held and when they brought it all in a big plastic bag I'd just quickly ruffled through it and thought all that was left was the usual "junk mail" and I then just tossed it aside and more or less forgot about it. A few weeks later I had to go into the post office for something and my former supervisor saw me and asked how I was and all that good stuff and I was just about to ask him when I would get the annual leave pay I figured I still had coming when he asked me if I'd gotten my final settlement pay. I rushed home and took a closer look at that bag of junk mail and there was a check for over $1100! I think that qualified me as the biggest idiot ever...lol!

I have had a couple of things like that happen! Several years ago I opened an envelope from a college I had attended a few years earlier...imagine my surprise when it cantained a check for over $300. I had withdrawn and the school didn't do a refund back to me. When they had auditors, it was found that I was owed money! It was great. Then about 5 years ago, I received mail from my curent employer. I opened it thinking it was a travel reimbursement for about $100. It was a check for almost $5000...yes...five-thousand. During a salary review, it was found that I wasn't being compensated properly for my length of service and I received a nice raise plus back pay. Go figure! Just this year, I received almost $300 in a tax refund that I had no idea about and I also received $75 back from the doctor's office where I had overpaid.

I love mail like that. Maybe I will get something like that on Monday...wouldn't that be great!

unexpected earnings are very good but sometimes we feel very upset by getting someone else's money without doing any work. so i have no pleasure in it.
