If/ When you use mouthwash, do you take a swig from the bottle or do you measure a certain amount into a container and then take a swig from that?

If you use a container, do you use the cap of the mouthwash container, or something else?

What flavour mouthwash do you prefer?

I use the cap most times, but I do occasionally water it down a bit and use a glass, as we all know, we are supposed to.. I like the green mouthwash, I am not even sure which one it is.. I don't care for the brown color Listerine, it tastes horrible.. I buy the store brand most times, it is as good as the name brand and it is much cheaper.. It works as good and if it doesn't no one has told me any different.. So, I am assuming it works as good as the other and my bref is ok..

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

I didn't know that we were supposed to water it down, Donna.

myLot reputation of 97/100. DonnaLawson (2806)   ranked 355 out of 8,775 in health  4 years ago

Sometimes it is a bit strong for me, so being the wimp that I am, I water it down, full strength almost makes me gag, it is almsot like eating a huge mint wafer.. Weird huh? but I never said that I wasn't weird..

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

It doesn't sound weird to me, Donna. It sounds like you know what works for you. :)

When I use mouthwash, I have my own little cup that I use...not liking the idea of using the cap when someone else has used it...ICK! (even if it's my own family LOL). And I have to have the minty fresh stuff. None of that medicine tasting nasty mouthwash for me. When I use that I feel like my breath smells like Nyquil.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

I wouldn't even consider sharing, Katlady!

I don't use mouthwash often trans, I'm too likely to swallow.

I do enjoy a nice minty toothpaste though.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

It's okay to swallow, Curly.

myLot reputation of 88/100. CurlyRed (3467)  4 years ago

I don't like to waste it, trans, seems such a waste to just spit it out. It tastes good.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

That's s good point, Curly.

I use the cap of the mouthwash. It always seems such a waste to get something else to measure a certain amount when they have the cap for that. I swish it around and than spit it out. The brand of mouthwash I use is Scope the Minty flavor. It makes my mouth feel really refreshed.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

I wouldn't go for the separate container either, sunshinelady.

6. myLot reputation of 87/100. itsmefaith (2222)   4 years ago

I don't use mouthwash, unless I have something happening where someone else will have reason to sniff my breath. If not, I don't use it. I don't like it. It stings and makes me kinda gag. Toothpaste is enough, I think.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

Do you measure your toothpaste on another applicator before putting it on your teefbrush?

myLot reputation of 87/100. itsmefaith (2222)  4 years ago

Ummmm, no?confused What other applicator would there be to measure teefpaste? What's its purpose?

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

You know -- a toothpaste applicator. You squeeze the paste onto the applicator (it looks like a small putty knife with a measuring scale on it) so that you can easily measure how much you need with very little waste.

myLot reputation of 87/100. itsmefaith (2222)  4 years ago

Oh...hmmm, I don't think I have ever seen that. The only thing I have ever seen is the thing you put over the tube to smooth it out so the toothpaste can be applied more evenly. I think there's less waste with that, too. That's not what you mean, is it?

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

The thing that you put on the tube is to be used in conjunction with the toothpaste applicator, otherwise it is for naught. You're kidding, right?? I don't think that I've ever seen the toothpaste squeezer sold without the toothpaste applicator!!

myLot reputation of 87/100. itsmefaith (2222)  4 years ago

cryNo, I'm not kidding. I'm very simple, Trans. I have never even had one of these fancy schmancy toothpaste sqeezers, much less the applicator.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

Oh. Well that is sad, Its.

Maybe the braces fairy could bring you the whole ensemble.

myLot reputation of 87/100. itsmefaith (2222)  4 years ago

I do not use mouthwashes other than water usually. But if I do use it it will depend on the type if I use a cup or not.

I usually will pour scope into the cap and use it - then rinse the cap off well.

I find listerine to be too strong and will dilute it in a dixie type bathroom cup.

I like that everyone will have their own private containers of mouthwash.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

I agree about everyone having their own containers, Modestah.

8. myLot reputation of 14/100. kijiky (582)   4 years ago

Since there are several people use the mouth wash it would be yuckie if we all stuck our mouth on it and and gulped.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

If several people were sharing the mouthwash, that would be a bit yucky, kijiky.

I measure into the cap, swig from that and then rinse the cap. My flavour is pink! The one I use is alcohol-free as those with alcohol burn the heck out of my mouth.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

I wasn't aware there was a pink mouthwash. I'll have to look into that.

myLot reputation of 83/100. Piscesmoon (2886)  4 years ago

Not sure if you have the Colgate brand in the USA. They make the mouthwash I use, which is called "Plax" and especially formulated for sensitive mouths and teeth. Stopping here because I'm sounding like an advertisement.

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

We have Colgate. And we have something called, Plax, as well. I've used it and the one I used was Purple. Pink sounds tasty.

myLot reputation of 83/100. Piscesmoon (2886)  4 years ago

Hmm, I haven't seen a purple one here. Perhaps they sell different versions in different countries? The pink one is Plax Gentle Care. I wouldn't want to drink a bottle of it but, as a mouthwash, it is good. Mildly minty.

Hi, Trans, sorry it's been a while but things have been a bit busy.

Regarding your post, when I'm willing to spend $5 or $6 for a bottle of mouthwash, which is what it usually costs, I pour an amount into the cap and swig from it and gargle. As for the flavor, I like mint - usually Scope - the green colored one.

Thanks for the interesting topic as always...

myLot reputation of 93/100. Transdisc (18434)  4 years ago

Hello whimsy

It's good to see you. I hope that you are well.

The green can taste good.

myLot reputation of 70/100. whimsystoryteller (846)  4 years ago

Yes, it can...I'm with Katlady, I can't handle the medicine taste of Listerine. I want something that leaves my mouth feeling fresh not like a distillery. Hee Hee Hee
