Just Rust! |
| |
| My man is a junk collector. I don't mean that's what he does for a living, he has a very respectable good job, but his hobby is just collecting junk. The collection runs from old tractors, to old trailers, to an old forge, the tailgate off of an antique truck....anything metal and rusty, he'll take it. Today I met him at the door as he gave me another sheepish grin. I jumped up and down and said, "oh goody more JUNK!". LOL! He just smiled and gave me the "I'm gonna sell it spill" Now he has the best of intentions. "I can sell this and get about $200 to use towards new tires on my truck"....uhh huh......there it sits. It's a good thing we have land or we'd be in real trouble...but then if we didn't have land he wouldn't have a place to put all the new junk he can get. Yip, those are really our tractors down there on that picture. We actually have 3 and 1/2 tractors. LOL! What the heck do you do with 1/2 a tractor? Oh well, I still love him and someday they will make great yard art, right? So...what's in your collection, or the collection of your SO? | | Tractors | | | | |

| | Love the pink earmuffs! Hubby collects newspapers with historical events in them. There is a whole stack of them about the Beatles, JFK, and who knows what else, in my closet. I almost threw them out once when cleaning out the closet. They were in a garbage bag when he came in and saw it lying on the bed. He peeked inside, and I thought the man was going to have a heart attack or something. I just smiled, told him that I put them in the bag so that they would all be in one place............if he ever decided to do something with them. But, I can't complain about that, almost everything in the garage is stuff I collected for making fountains, or water features of some kind, tools, that I was going to make furniture with (and, I have used them for some things, really, I have), and bits and pieces that somebody threw out and they were on the side of the road, and I thought they were interesting things. I am always picking things up off the ground, putting them in a box, thinking that I can use them in my jewelry........when an idea hits me for it (And, I have used a couple of those pieces in my jewelry). But, Hubby never says anything about my junk taking over the place. He just says, If it makes you happy, and you think you want it, then I am sure you will find a place for it. Now, how can I throw out his silly, old, crumbling newspapers after he says something like that?*LOL* | | | | | | |

| | Well actually would need horses, since well the zombies might attack them. And well there will be plenty of fuel, think of all the cars on the sides of the road in pile ups, and in people drive ways, and all the gas stations. Though if no electricity, which after awhile there wouldnt be, it would be harder to get to, but could still do it. Just have to be careful in those traffic jams and stuff for zombies trapped in cars. Lol, well would head up to get my girlfriend and then go back down. Dont know where after that lol. | | | |

You should see some of the stuff out in the country here around where I live thankfully My Father never did that sort of thing but other people in the country here, farmers etc have so "much junk" in their yards and pastures its bad!! | | Well my man doesn't collect junk really, but he's always bringing stuff home, and its never anything that works, or we can use..lol. His thing is, he gets all these ideas that he's gonna build this and he's gonna build that, and he starts collecting the stuff to build it with, but thats all he does, it just sits around out in the yard till whenever. Like he had this idea that he was going to build a smoker, well he got these big iron pipes, and this axle looking thing, to pull the smoker around with, and they're still sitting out there, and that was a few yrs. ago when he had that idea, still hasn't been made yet...lol. Now we've got this old pop-up trailer sitting in the yard its been here for a few months now, he was going to take it apart and make it into a trailer that he can haul stuff on, hasn't happened yet either. We do have a tractor sitting in the yard too, it doesn't run, he's been meaning to fix it, but I don't think he will..haha. Yeah, I still love him too, and yeah, it will make great yard art one of these days...I'm hoping...lol. | | | | | | |

| | My husband doesn't collect rusty junk. But he does have his Dad's old tractor sitting down in our pasture. It looks like the tractor on the left in your picture. It is a Red Farmall. He has always wanted to restore it, but we've had it for 17 years or so and I doubt that he will ever get it done. | | | | | | |

| | Nice Tractors!! LOL Someday all his junk may come in handy. My SO use to collect so much junk. We always stopped for stuff on the side of the road. I can remember at least half a dozen times loading up our trailer and riding up in the hills to find stuff, in the gullies. Yes we went out lookiing for junk. If you could only see our yard. Some of the stuff was useful though. Like rims that actually fit our vehicles are were not rusted. Free stuff is always the best I always say. But I finally fused and fused until he got rid of most of it. And then one day I needed parts of something and he had gotten rid of it that cost me like $50. But we had like 3 deep freezes, 7 refrigerators, a couple of washers, a dozen rims. Just tons of stuff. But a lot of it has useable parts. They have a couple of uses. Most of the racks out of the stoves will fit lots of stoves. Also they work real great for redneck grills. You know about 6 cinder blocks on the ground and a rack from a fridge or oven and walla you have a grill. All you need is some wood or charcoal and food!! Fridges and deep freezes work really well for storage. My SO used a fridge to keep oil in, his welding rods, screws and so on. Also fridges and deep freezes work really well for worm beds. Your man has wonderful intentions. Oh yeah I have a collection too. Lets see. I have a propane cover that goes on the front of a camper. I actually did not know that that is what it was for when I picked it up off of the side of the road. I picked it up to plant flowers in. Needless to say it does not have flowers planted. Then there was a dresser that I picked up off the side of the road to refinish. It is in the front of my yard with all the drawers gone. It serves the purpose of a table. I was going to refinish it until I realized that it was press wood. Stain does not work well on that!! Then there is the purple recliner that is under our lean to. Picked it right up off the side of the road. It was torn and a friend of mine was like "It sits good though." So at my house was where it ended up. That is funny because like 2 days later me and my significant other were going down the road and there was this horrible couch on the side of the road and he asked me to stop and get it and I said no it is ugly and he said "Oh well it probably sits good." Anyways. What we use for a couch actually came off the side off the road. It is like a futon kind of and it was free. Anyways I am sorry to have written so much. And the 1/2 of a tractor don't worry he will probably find the other 1/2 one day. LOL | | | | | | |

| | Hey, do you live down the road from me.....like at my BROTHER'S house? LOL! My brother has the eyes of an eagle even though his glasses are 3 ft thick. If we're driving down the road and I see what I think is a snake he says, "HA!" whips it around and sure enough it's a perfectly good tie down. He KNEW what it was and I thought it was a snake. LOL! He has so much stuff from doing that. My niece got a great coffee table off the side of the road. All she did was crackle finish it and it's really cute. Have you read The Complete Tightwad Gazette? I think you would like that book. It's really great! | | | |

| | I live in Mississippi. You know I am a redneck. We are in New Mexico right now. I am going to see about that book. I had never read it but am sure I would love it. You might be a redneck if your childs Barbie Jeep quits and you rewire it and strap a car battery on it. WHy go pay $400 for a new one when you can use a $40 battery. We have a Barbie Jeep with a car battery that runs it. LOL That baby will go! I wish I could post pictures I would show you the tiller wheeler. It is a tiller that you ride. It has a seat and all. It is awesome. Need a pontoon boat? Take a piece of plywood and strap on two leak proof 55 gallon drums and you have a pontoon. OK. I am going to shut up now. It is all coming out!!! | | | |

| | Of course I can shoot a gun. I just got me a new gun last week. It is only a 410 but I love them. I can shoot other ones too. We had a 12 gauge that I use to use and a 16 gauge but I will not touch a muzzleloader. And all that stuff I typed I decided to quit before you thought I was a NUT. You just understand that I am a redneck though. Have to wait till hubby gets home and ask about exact on how to hook up battery. It usually runs a good while but you do have to charge it once the charge is gone, but I know you must have a battery charger. Speaking of batteries I must tell this one being as though you know I am a redneck and don't mind. But when you cannot afford something you make do. And most of the time you are more appreciative because of it. Anyways here is the story. We were out of power for a few days and tired of sitting in the dark. This was during the winter. We have a wood heater(imagine that) so we were warm just tired of the dark. So our trailer has a fuse box. My SO took a battery and hooked the fuse box up to the battery and you could put a 12 volt battery in all the light sockets and it would work. And of course if you used an inverter you could run other stuff. Or you could run stuff that was 12 volt. So that was our "Generator." We had to do this for a few days and would swap batteries on the vehicle to keep them charged. I will get back to you on the Barbie Jeep. I think though you just take those to wires and hook them on battery with wire extensions and if you hook it up wrong it will go backwards. But I will double check. But like I said you will run the battery charger down and have to use a battery charger to charge it back up but it works great. It has enough juice to ride an adult around.LOL Yes I had to test it. The kids left it in the middle of the driveway and I just jumped on it and moved it. | | | |

| | LOL, ok well my man just IM'd me asking if I wanted to go target practice this evening. We just got a 10/22 rifle and it is SWEEEET! He also got me a new 22 pistol, single action, but it's cool too. He said I was better than him, high praise let me tell you. Honey I live in rednedckville Texas! You're cracking me up cause I'm feeling right at home. I have rusty stuff hanging as decor in my front hallway. Let's see there's the old forks of a pitchfork, an old fireplace poker, some old wooden stirrups, an old forestry sign, part of an old wheel and a block and tackle(that's probably still usable, you think?) LOL! Oh and one of my house plants sits in an old ceramic chamber pot that's got a cool rusted hole in it! heh! Ok, now I invited you as friend and I'm gonna be on you about that battery. My son will be in hog heaven! You know they got that screw in there that keeps them from going at a higher speed? Well after my son learned how to drive his, oh and it was given to us and it's pink, my man removed that screw. My son floored it, as usual, and you should have seen his face. His eyes were big as saucers and he yelled YEEHAAW! and took off like lightening. He rode it around the yard at top speed, forward and reverse until it died that night. Now...it's getting boring again. LOL! Oh and my brother threatened to paint the jeep in camo because it was pink, but now it's faded to a nice lavendar grey color. ha ha ha! | | | |

| | LOL We have lots in commonit seems. My SO said that you just take the red wire to the postive side and the black wire hooks up to the negative side. But don't forget like I said you still have to charge it when the battery runs down. But it is way better than the normal little battery!! You don;t have a recliner and deep freeze on your front porch do you? I have both. Our first trailer like those that you hook up to your truck to haul stuff on cost $25. It was an old rusty truck bed. Worked real well to haul firewood and all the other junk though. And we still have it. It is in the back yard at the edge of our property. It needs new bearings. So that is where it will stay till it starts crumbling. We have a fiberglass boat in our yard that a tree fell on and smashed. We use to have an aluminum boat in the yard that a tree fell on and smashed and we got rid of it. The fiberglass boat is on the ground and the trailer got chopped and welded into a lawnmower trailer. At least it is serving a purpose. Now my grandmother that lives next door has a 1999 Chevy Cavalier that a tree smashed in her yard. The good news is we share our junk. We live in a flood zone. So when it floods anything in the yard that is not that heavy just floats away. Then we have to go hunt stuff down. Anyways I will shut up. I like to talk just a little in case you did not notice. | | | |

| | Ok, we live on a spring fed creek. It's about 6-8 ft full all year long, in some spots. That's a flood plain down there. Last year it took off our big ol picnic table, that's now wrapped around a tree. I could show you pics, it was awesome. What did we find....hmm...lots of fishing stuff, fish traps, etc, then a carseat, big ol piece of styrofoam and I mean big, seated 6 people, the neighbors used it to ride the creek after the flood then kept it at the swimming hole for diving off of. Nope, we live in a mobile, so no front porch, but when we build I can't promise ya anything. My husband wants a new recliner so the swivel rocker might end up on the porch will that do? LOL! Yea, I like to talk too, if you didn't notice. | | | |

| | There is a creek behind our house. That is why it floods at our house 2! Isn't it amazing we have so much in common here. I live in a mobile home to. Our front porch is a concrete slab that is like 2 1/2 feet tall. Our underpinning is cider blocks. I am in New Mexico right now and it does not really rain here. It just stopped raining in Mississippi yesterday. My Mom went and checked on the creek and it is out on one side but not out on my side yet. That is just what I want a flood at my house when I am 1,000 miles away. We are 5 miles from the Texas state line. 25 miles from Andrews Texas I think. It may be a little more than 25 miles. I know we are only 5 miles from the Texas state line though. My SO is out here working in Eunice, New Mexico at the new LES plant. I think it is neat that we have so much in common though. | | | |
