What is a good camera?  |

 I'm looking into buying a new camera and I'm not quite sure what to get. I know that I don't want a point-and-shoot. I want a large-bodied camera with some sort of removable lens so another one could be attached. I don't want to spend a lot of money but anything under 500 dollars is acceptable. I can buy better lenses later. Any suggestions?

| 1. mrscubana (21) | 1 year ago |  I have a canon digital rebel that takes pretty awesome pics, but you really have to get used to using the settings...white balance exposure,etc. They have some really good deals on the earlier rebels I was checking out last night on www.ebay.com They were ranging around 400-500 I think. One word of caution tho, these lenses are super expensive for what they are and it's a pain to have to replace them on an slr cam. You have lens cap,use it! AlWAYS! It's too easy to get a grain of salt in one or a minor scratch that can ruin all your future pics. I was not careful enough recently and all let some family walk around and use it and I have a mysterious scratch somehow.I do have to admit that I am lazy about putting it on and notorious for loosing it.
I got off topic. Ok so my first question is: are you wanted to make a future in this? what are the purposes of buying and SLR?

| horses102488 (60) | 1 year ago | I love photography and do it as a hobby. However, I would love to continue with it for a long time to come. I'm becoming better at it the more I do it and I fear I'm beginning to outgrow my Canon PowerShot A510. I love it because of the bulk (it's nice to be able to actually hang on to a camera) and the pictures it takes are very nice. But, as you can imagine, it's getting to be quite an old camera and I'm looking to update to something with more options and nicer quality. I also want to have pretty amazing zoom. I hate digital zoom and only want optical. I wouldn't mind a large-format camera but I'm not so hot with the developing part of photography. I was thinking about a Nikon D60. What are your thoughts on that camera? | |

| mrscubana (21) | 1 year ago | I'm not to familiar with that camera but they look like they have gone down in price(if i'm remembering correctly)by a lot.I was actually considering a Nikon for my next cam when i can afford it and do alot more research ofcourse. It has really good reviews! Do you know if you can use the same lens on different Nikon bodies. With canons you can keep all your lens and upgrade bodies if you want to and not have to start all over. That is one thing "I" wanted to know. I would look into that.

| horses102488 (60) | 1 year ago | It seems to be a bit cheaper in price so I'm thinking I might try and see how low they get in price. I believe all the new camera come out in April and May so I might check then; I'm looking for an idea of one I want to buy. I figure, if I buy a fairly good SLR camera and then get nice lenses it would balance out a bit. So the money I save on the camera can go to really nice lenses. You can interchange the lenses on their cameras which is nice. Thank you for the thought. It's something I hadn't considered as of yet. | |

2.  trickiwoo (1931) | 1 year ago |  If you're interested in buying a used DSLR, you can get a Nikon D50, D70 or D100 for around $200-$300. If you want to buy new, you can get a Nikon D40, D40x or D60 for around $300-$600. They are some of the best cameras out there, and there are plenty of very high quality lenses available for these cameras!

I do not know about were to get it from the states.
But I do know of a few places in Singapore where you can get one.
You have to let me know whether you are comfortable in getting one shipped to you.
I may be able to source one out for you if you are interested.
