Eating Chicken Drumsticks - a question |
| |
| This will change how you eat chicken drumsticks from here on out because now you'll stop and think about it before you take that first bite. Does your drumstick face right or face left? In other words, in which hand do you hold the skinny drum part? Your right hand or your left? I hold mine in the left hand with the fat meat part of the drumstick pointing to the right. I tried it once the other way, with the drumstick facing left, and got all screwed up eating it. I almost missed the bite entirely. So what's it for you? Drumstick facing right or left? | | | | | |

| | Come on. You mean you're telling me you never took a drumstick by the fist and ate it? You must be Amy Vanderbilt. Okay, when you took the meat off the bone with the fork, did the drumstick face right or face left? | | | |

| | I hold mine just the opposite of you, and I agree, to try to change it would make me goofy. I do not get drumsticks often anymore, though, so it is a bit of a moot point. I can just imagine, though, trying to change it. | | | | | | |

| | I got mine because the Piggly Wiggly (yes, a real store name here in the South)had 8 thighs and legs (normally I am a leg man in everything else)for $3.98. So I got some and it was in this I noticed all my drumsticks pointing right. I even tried to change it up and point one left and it kind of made me flinch. | | | |

| | In the fifties and sixties there were Piggly Wiggly stores in Oklahoma and Kansas. Friendlier sounding than some of the other store names, right? Yum, chicken sounds good. | | | |

| | I hardly ever eat chicken drumsticks anymore. I like white meat on a chicken. When I eat them, I hold mine with the right hand and the fat meaty part pointing left or right of me, but I make sure to get the meat. | | | | | | |

| | Drumstick direction was just one of those things that came to mind during lunch. Figured I could squeeze a nickel out of it with a My Lot discussion. | | | |

| | Umm...it depends on what dish...if the drumsticks are in curry or gravy, then I would use a fork and knife. If it's fried chicken, then I would hold the skinny part in my right hand, and tearing the flesh bit by bit, and putting into my mouth. It's only until there's no more flesh to tear, then I will start gnawing on the bones! | | | | | | |

| | Umm, let me think ..... I hold the skinny bit in my right hand with the fat meat part pointing to the left. I don't eat them often but next time I do I'll be sure to try it the other way round - shake things up a bit! | | | | | | |

| | Is that your 150 word way of asking "are you right handed or left handed"? I'm right handed. I hold the drumstick by the skinny part, the fat part goes to the left. | | | | | | |

| | As you can see this one really racked up the replies. I tried eating a drumstick the other way recently and almost missed my mouth. | | | |

| | I had a drumstick the other day which was skinny all the way around. I thought this was unusual until I remembered that there is a farm way down in Kentucky that has 3 legged chickens. You might think that a 3 legged chicken was unique, but not so. Its just that a 3 legged chicken can run so fast very few of them ever get caught, and that's the reason we don't get very many drum sticks with skin all way around. | | | | | | |
