Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, who's the better actor?

I like Robert DeNiro in Goodfellas and I also liked Al Pacino in The Devil's Advocate...awesome movies.

Two excellent actors who I love watching, it is so hard to choose between the two. They both deserve lots of praise and recognition.

That is like comparing black and white. We need both? Both are unique!

I dun really know who they are, even though i have heard about their names and even seen their movies, but i dunno who is who.. lol=D All i know is that both of them are very good actors whomo had been around for decades and they have a very solid foundation in acting..

BUt they cant really be compared because they belong to different class and the imagine they portrayed are different too^_^

I guess it is just a matter of choice. I have watched them both grow and mature as actors. I have to admit I have liked more of Pacino's role choices. But they are both good and I think their movie together should be good although I have not seen it.

Al Pacino, is the better actor for one reason. He acts. When De Niro had his fling with comedy acting, his timing was off, horribly off. If De Niro is in what he does best, a mafia flick, he is usually in a great story line so we watch him among lots of better actors, therefore, we think he is acting well, but the next time you watch him, watch him and what he does. He is really not a good actor at all just a victim of great press.

Roberd De Niro is a great actor I must say but Pacino puts his heart and soul into his roles. If he plays a blind man, you think he is a blind man. If he plays a cop, you think he is a cop. When I watch De Niro, all I can think of is that ugly mole on his face and why doesn't he get it removed. De Niro is a flook, Pacino is an actor. De Niro reads lines, Al Pachino, makes the lines his own.

I think they're both good but in this case, I guess I have to agree with you. Like you, my bet will go to Robert De Niro as well because through out his career, he has worked with the best Hollywood had to offer. Martin Scorsease ( no more than 8 movies ), Michael Mann, Michael Cimino, Francis Ford Coppla and Ron Howard to name a few.

He plays his characters with deep emotion and always cool and calm, unless called for. While Mr Pacino plays with the shorty allot.

Anyway, to round this up, Both are the greatest actors alive today. I mean, when these two got together for Heat, No one was better then the other. They played it to a tea, playing off of each of their parts and both gave power house performances.

To me, Pacino is the greatest actor of all time, though Bobby boy is not far behind. In almost any of his films he could and probably did gain a cult following. From 'Panic in needle park' to 'insomnia' or even 'the recruit'. If a film stars, co stars or just has Al Pacino in it then you don't have to worry because you know he's gonna give you a performance worthy of whatever you paid to watch the movie, the guy is simply a class act.

The passion he gives to his character is unmistakable he brings a certain something that no other actor can. You could pick a great quote out of any of his films, not because of the great script writing but because of the energy he gives the line when he speaks it. Even grunts and noises he makes are memorable, 'Scent of a woman' springs to mind.

Though I will say that De Niro has the edge over Pacino in the comedy genre, though we mustn't forget Al gained a few plaudits for his role in the comic gangster spoof D-ick Tracey. Though in the more serious roles Al cans till make you laugh. But besides comedy Al for me has the edge, the transformation he makes from film to film is tremendous, and even his transformation during films is something to behold, I.E The Godfather, from a clean young war hero to a ruthless Mafia leader and so convincing as either.

Both De Niro and Pacino are true movie two greats, Marlon Brando for years has been hailed as the king of actors, but for me Al Pacino has surpassed him and wears that crown of the greatest actor ever to grace the screen, and he may never be replaced. I simply can't so his acting skills justice, if I were to go into the slightest of detail about his performances in certain films I would be writing for 10 weeks rather than 10 minutes. Long live King Al, still stealing the show thirty six years after first appearing as 'Bobby' the junkie in 'Panic in needle park'.

both persons that you have come up with, are good ones. i will not say which one will i pick because, both are my favorites.

well, you see, my friend, robert de niro and al pacino are good actors in different strengths.

the movie producer and scriptwriter will immediately know who is the one who fits better in a storyline. that will be where the comparison among actors come in.

i have noticed that in all the movies that starred de niro and pacino, they have achieved the effect that the movie was for.

so, my vote goes for both of them.

well, both this actors are very talented but I think if it is a question of choosing between both them then I will consider Al Pacino my favorite
