 Last Sunday I re-dedicated my life to my Lord. I was trying to explain to Beth how I was feeling (like my feet weren't my own and the joy of doing this) after Church that day. Tonight we went to the Youth Services at the Church. During the service, the Youth Pastor asked for all those who were not sure if they were saved and wanted a change in their lives to raise their hand. Now, I was sitting with Beth but just a bit behind her, I watch my daughters hand shoot right up in the air! Next he asked for all of those that raised their hands to come to the front at the alter and recieve Jesus. Now, the youth group is very large; so is the Church. I sat watching the back of the head of my daughter thinking "She won't do it" but praying she would. Sure enough, my child literally jumped to her feet and ran-walked up to the alter--- SHE WAS SAVED TONIGHT!! Praise the Lord-- she was saved!

Beth (she was very abused before the Lord sent her to me) has always blamed herself for her abuse as her natural mother had always told her she was at fault. She has never felt worthy for anyones love; especially God's. This was truly a miracle by the Holy Spirit for Beth to dedicated her life. I am so filled with love a pride for her! What a relief and a blessing to know that she's given Jesus permission to work in her life and that she'll be open to His healing. I found that, because of abuse in her first twelve years, my daughter viewed God first of all, as someone who was just waiting to slap her down when she did wrong. She's grown a lot now and sees Him more as He really is, but she still reverts to her old views sometimes. Beth may go through this stage too, but if she does God will slowly change her view of Him so something that's more real. It's interesting, that you mentioned earlier that Beth sees things in black and white - no shades of grey - because my daughter is the same.

Beth hurt her very badly about 3 weeks ago and she has not forgiven Beth for it yet. My mother is of the opinion that Beth can not change and God is not going to make a difference in that. I have told her that I am sorry she feels this way and Beth has apoloized as well; all to no avail. So I have told her that I don't see where we too much to say to each other than. It hurts me very much as I have always been close to my mother but I realize that sometimes when we have given our lives over to the Lord we will find people trying to sway us from that. | |
