Where's Your Diaper?

The first time is so great its the start of a new passage of life for them.

When a small Child sits on the Potty and is to find out what the first time is, Just run some water from the tap into the bowl, on hearing running water the Child is likely to pass water also.

Silly as it sounds it works, here running water and you want to Pee.

We are going through the same exact thing! My daughter will be two in March. She goes to the bathroom in her diaper once and takes it off and throws it in the trash. Then she goes into the bathroom, pulls off some toilet paper, wipes with it and throws it in the toilet. She doesn't quite get going in the potty first, not her diaper! I have been putting her on the big toliet with no success. But, today I bought her a potty chair that I am really hoping helps. I am due with our second baby at the beginning of July and I would LOVE to have my daughter out of diapers before the next one comes along.

We are going through potty training with my youngest at the moment. He is at the stage when he knows he has done it in his nappy and will go on the potty.The other morning i was downstairs and heard him calling me.
I went to see what he wanted and there he was in the toilet with his nappy in his hand. He proudly told me that he had done a poo on the toilet. He had managed to put his toilet seat on the toilet and then climbed up to sit on it.
He was so proud of himself because he had gone on his own without asking anyone for help.

I don't really remember much about potty training my son since it was about 6 years ago. My daughter is about at the potty training stage right now. We have has ups and downs with it. She has gone through the potty is cool phase twice already and she is not quite 2 yet. She pretty much knows when she needs to go, but you have a hard time getting her to actually do it. She did wake up dry this morning and used the potty first thing though, so I guess things are looking up.

Although my son is now 17, I can remember some of the things we went through to get him potty trained.

I worked full time, and had him in day care. I bought him training pants, took them to the day care center, along with regular diapers, and gave them instructions on what I was doing to train him myself.

That was the first day, and when I went to pick him up, he had the diaper on with the training pants on top! Needless to say, I wasn't happy, but I didn't say anything. I just didn't know what to say without sounding like I was chastizing them.

So, I decided to take a different approach, took some time off from work, and stayed home for two solid weeks with my son.

He had one of those potties that was like a regular toilet seat, but downsized, and sat on the regular toilet.

So, at regular intervals, I would take him into the bath room, sit him on it, and stay with him talking about what I was trying to get him to do, and why.

I also stopped using diapers altogether. I thought I wasn't helping him by using training pants part of the time, and diapers the other. I thought that if I did have progress with him, he would regress if I put him back into diapers. So, I just didn't put them back on him.

I was very dedicated to what I was doing, and knew he would eventually get it. After one solid week, he finally peed in the toilet.

I made such a big fuss over it, and obviously he enjoyed making me happy. It was amazing to see how much joy it brought him to see the big fuss I made over his accomplishments.

It took another solid week, but I finally got him to do the other in the toilet as well. That was a truly wonderful day, and he enjoyed the splendor of my reaction to him finally achieving this extremely important goal.

I still had my work cut out for me because I still had to work our way through staying dry through the night. So, I talked to him some more, and got him to understand how important it was that he use the bathroom.

From that day on, I was fortunate enough that he never wet the bed, or his clothes.

When it was time to go back to work, I took my son to day care. After the first day back, when I went to pick my son up, the director told me that after he used the bathroom, he called her and the other workers to the bathroom, showed them he had used the bathroom, and stood there and clapped and yelled, yeeaahhh!!!!

The thought it was so cute, and funny. When they told me about it, I was a little embarrassed, and had to explain why he behaved the way he did.

You are so lucky you have a cooperative child! My first one was cake, the 2 year old I have now is adamantly against being potty trained.

My first one is actually funny. She was about 14 months old, I told her "we have no more diapers, you have to use this." She sat down on it and refused to get off! She clenched the hand rests and fell asleep on it! She was potty trained in one day, she also ended up having an extremely high IQ. Your son seems to be very intelligent also with his behavior.

My son was 18 months old when he started to go on the potty,i guees because my daugther(2 1/2) at the time was potty training my son would copy her.The only problem was that he would sit down not stand...no big deal right?until one day he saw my husband pee standing up and ask "do i have to have hair there to pee standing up like you,dad?"HA!HA!HA! soooo funny!

Wow, you're son is doing really great! Usually, boys, according to some studies don't start showing results until they reach 3 years of age. Way to go!
