Did you throw out your peanut butter crackers? |
|
Well since the recall this week here in the U.S. we've had to stop eating our favorite peanut butter crackers. My son has been asking for his crackers for the past three days and keeps crying for them. I have about four boxes hidden away just waiting for the FDA to tell us it's o.k. to eat them again. I have a feeling that it's not going to happen anytime soon. Now apparently it's not just peanut butter crackers being recalled but also cookies with peanut butter and ice cream and other products. So what have you done with your peanut butter crackers? Did you throw them out or are you saving them until further notice?

1. alyssakenzie (410) | 11 months ago | I only had a few packages left so I just through them all out so I wouldn't have to worry about them. They have recalled a lot of snacks that have peanut butter in them so it makes it hard to know what is safe. I am hoping that they get to the bottom of this whole mess in a hurry so we know where it came from. They said that the products that are still on the shelves are safe and I did notice today that there were some peanut butter crackers so some of them have to be alright.

There usually is a hotline number to call in case the store refuses to take the item back. You can even return it if it has already been opened. Keep the package if anybody has already gotten sick, even if it was just a little diarrhea. You'll need the package info for any claims you might file later.
Coincidentally I only have peanutbutter cups in the house. My middle one loves them but I have not given any to her since the recalls started although this is stuff from Christmas. Better safe than sorry. I have an open jar of peanutbutter, which I will use up since we are halfway through and nobody got sick. I don't think jars have yet been recalled anyway. However, an unopened jar is in the pantry and will sit there for a while.
You are right in your believe that a green light for consumption will not be given any time soon. They haven't even found the source yet, nor are they even sure that all the recalled products are affected. Most of the recalls were precautionary.
It's interesting that peanutbutter has been affected again. It's such an American staple.

3. lilybug (15252) | 11 months ago | My kids don't eat the peanut butter ones, so I did not have any to throw away. They prefer the cheese filled one to the peanut butter filled ones. I hope they figure something out soon so your little boy can have his crackers back.

7. eeyore39 (3181) | 11 months ago | Well we too buy the crackers by the box. Since I ate a package not to long ago. Shortly before the scare and I'm still alive. I figure they are safe to be consumed. So I am not worrying to much about those. If I should die, I'll be sure to let everyone know it was the peanut butter crackers though.
