Have you read the book Da Vinci Code?

oh yes, a totally awesome book! I couldnt put it down, and then I just had to go and find his other books and read them too. You have to remember they are only fiction, but I think the Da Vinci Code has a lot of truth in it, but nobody wants to acknowledge it because it threatens their religious beliefs.

Maybe I shouldnt have used the word "threatening". Perhaps I should have said "challenging", because that is what I believe it does. It makes you think that perhaps there are other ways of looking at our religious history, that maybe its not good to just accept what other people say and write, and forming our own opinions is a valuable way to learn. Does anyone else agree with me here?

I agree with both "threatening" and "challenging". If only they would open their minds to seeing things from a different perspective,it may strengthen their faith rather than weakening it.

I think I would like the book, because I also want everybody to look everything, particualrly religious believes anew . Because,a good chunk of hatred is generated by some unscrupulous vested interests on the basis of religious belives of common people. Does not this raise a question of doubt about pruity of religious belives?

You're welcome akumei1269 thanks for starting the discussion. I think you will definitely like the book,it gives a perspective that is very different. Unfortunately that is where the controversy comes from,religion is a very personal thing and people hold so tightly to what they are taught that when a new perspective comes along they tend to close themselves off to it.
