Wow Tattlashes, That really is amazing. They say 209 will be the years of miracles and this certainly is. Lets all prayer for extra strength for these babies and their mother. This is fantastic and yes with todays technology I am sure they will all be fine. Huggles. Ellie :D

It just brings back memories....my cousin was a single birth, but born about three months early! This was in 1984, so my family chose not to tell my sister and I that he had even been born, since his chance of survival was so low! He was our 'miracle' baby, and other than being a little short and wearing glasses, you'd never know anything was wrong! Last fall, he entered Wharton School of Business to get his MBA.

Wow! I can't even imagine how relieved the Mother must be to have finally given birth to them all! It must have been so uncomfortable for her in the final half of the pregnancy. I wish them all every blessing and I too feel that with today's medical technologies, they have a better than average chance of survival. And 46 Medical Staff were involved in the births??? It's almost like a production line!This woman's life is certainly going to be a busy one! lol.

Yipee to strong mumies and healthy babies. Eight. Wow. I can imagine the chaos of running around with one baby after another to their incubators. It must be a sight worth seeing. Hope all the little ones grow up to be big healthy babies. I got tired with one kid, I can imagine what she will be going through to bring them up.

What a woman that is. My two,that I gave birth
to each singly is enough. Just think of all the

I think modern medical science is wonderful in that it can let people have babies who would normally not be able to BUT, at the same time, they should not be implanting so many embryos at once because there is the possibility that they will all "take". I think 4 or 5 is PLENTY!

Then, even 4 or 5 babies can be born prematurely enough to have severe, and sometimes lifelong, disabilities. I don't think it's fair to the babies.

There was a story a few years ago in which another woman was carrying 8 babies (maybe that's the one in Houston). She had used in vitro fertilization. When asked why they decided not to terminate some of the embryos to ensure the lives of the others, she said, "It's in God's hands."

What??? Creating those babies wasn't in "God's hands" because, apparently, God had decided they weren't going to have babies, at least not naturally!

Oh, well. I heard that at least one of them died so maybe that's the same story as the one you mentioned.

I still think it's wrong to implant so many embryos at once. I know the odds of in vitro fertilization working aren't that good and that's why they implant so many, but there are cases like this one, which cause astronomical hospital fees and probable lifelong problems for the babies. I just don't think it's right. Four or five is plenty!

I also want to add my hopes that they all do well. Eight,,,, that is a litter! Papa is going to have to hire the neighbors to help push the strollers to get them their fresh air.

I hope her children will take care of their mother in the future. I am amazed with the mother, enduring the pain carrying 8 babies and giving birth... wow I hope the little ones will grow up strong and healthy.
