No power until mid-February.Some of the 1.3 million homes struck by this week's winter storm face a lengthy wait for electricity. These poor people! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090129/ap_on_re_us/winter_storm
I'd be staying with relatives in a different state, supposing I could get ther. What would you do?

4. VoteforPedro (213) | 11 months ago | How dreadful for these people.
If this happens to us, we will have to hunker down and do the best we can. Uncle Rico will do the best because he is self contained in his van. Maybe he would come over and let us use his van for cooking and keeping warm.

5. goldeneagle (3547) | 11 months ago | Well I live in NW Florida, so I know a thing or two about being without power. It can take weeks for the electricity to be restored after a hurricane. You have to become resourceful, but you can get through...

7. mtdewgurl74 (10337) | 11 months ago | Yes, I can imagine because I went through it. I live in Kentucky and we were without power from January 27th till February 6th. And it wasn't easy, but we didn't go stay with relatives. we stayed home and tried to keep the heat going so the water lines wouldn't freeze using a kerosene heater which we also cooked on. Used candles to see by. We didn't have a radio that ran off batteries I had loaned that to my mom and she also has our lanterns so that is why we used candles thankfully I got alot of them for Christmas. So we only new what was going on by what others around us said. No phone,No water,No electric, No Computer..talk about withdrawals. But we lost all our refrigerator foods and freezer foods. Thank god for the assistance that we got to help us to be able to heat our home and get food. Instead of making snowmans..we were melting the ice and snow to bath and do dishes. We added a bit of bleach to help sterilize it a bit before using. I am also glad we had jugs filled up already for in case the water was going to freeze. We survived..But it made us not take alot of things for granted anymore. We will be ready for the next one..which I hope will be a long long time from now.
