| |  I am glad I do not have to rely on gas heating this year. It is very expensive here too. I rely on electricity for my heating and cooling. It is a heat pump central unit. A heat pump is an air conditioner that contains a valve that lets it switch between "air conditioner" and "heater." When the valve is switched one way, the heat pump acts like an air conditioner, and when it is switched the other way it reverses the flow of Freon and acts like a heater.
It is cheaper to use than electricity, but if it gets below freezing temperatures it does not work well.
