Single on Valentine's Day?

My friends and I used to make little hearts that had "S.A.D." written on them, and we would wear those on Valentine's Day. It stands for "Singles Awareness Day" because on Valentine's Day you are very aware that you are single.:-) Being able to poke fun like that makes it fun. I used to get upset about being single on Valentine's Day, but then I realized that there's no point. It's a great excuse to eat candy and hang out with other friends, but I do that anyway, so it's not extra special to me. I think that there is a lot of hype and bitterness that doesn't need to be there, because friends can be valentines too.

I'm safe, sane, and single.

Back in HS, I was still single. Of course, I would envy all my classmates getting flowers or chocolates and I'd dream of getting one myself. Later on, in college, I had my boyfriend already and it made me happy to get my share of flowers, balloons, chocolates on this special day. For a time, we celebrated it on the day itself. Then we realized it was way to unreasonably expensive. After a year or two, we made sure we never celebrated Valentine's on the day itself. Besides, every date we had was Valentine's.

My group in school (we were about 12 girls) also celebrated it by picking out a name and giving that person a little something for VDay. Last I gave my friend, I got her a Valentine's Tumbler in Starbucks. She remembers me every VDay!

I'm single but there is someone i'm kind of seeing but i don't know if i'll see them on Valentine's Day...I don't like Valentine's Day. it's just stressful it seems.
i don't think it's just for couples but most single people don't pay attention to the day. I've done stuff in the past like hang out and watch movies, eating chocolates. lol i might end up hanging out with my cousin and having some drinks.
i don't know... doubt it'll be anything lovey-dovey though that would be nice but doubt it. don't usually do anything come to think of it lol but get candy.

If you think about when you were in school as a child, valentines was not just for the boy friend/girl friend thing. It was each child gave each other a valentine, they also would hand them out to their teachers. So how did this day turn from a day of sharing with friends as a child to only sharing with your significant other?

Myself I enjoy the day with family, friends, neighbors, its a day of love for life.

LOL, Valentines Day is indeed a commercial strategy for people to boost their sales!!!!!!

But then it does bring some great memories. I'm single (sassy and satisfied, thank you) myself but that did not prevent me from having great memories during Valentines day (like a class being canceled because of a ruckus caused by a serenade some of my classmates started).:)

When February 14 comes nearer, my cousins start planning activities for us (exclusively for singles, of course). We try to do different things each year. Like for last year, we stayed on a beach overnight. We spent the whole night talking (as if we haven't bonded enough?!). The older ones are the 'planners'. It's fun because they try to keep it a surprise until the day before we "execute" their plans.

It's great for shopping too! Stores have discounts and special offers and stuff!

Valentines day is for everyone not only for couples.. If your single you can celebrate it with your family and frends..

For me I have spent a lot of valentines being single before and it hasn't bothered me since I have friends. Sad to say but sometimes Valentines just like most important holidays becomes too commercialized. The real meaning of love is being replaced by the idea that the more you give material things means more love. Before when I didn't have a girlfriend yet I would give chocolates (just the small ones usually Hershey's Kisses) to all my single girl friends just to show them how much I appreciate them

V_day do booms sales of related_commodities.I've been single all the V_days passed.I do hope I could have someone special to spend this day.But its fine if I spend the day alone. I may hang out with other single friends.Or attend some activities for singles.I can also enjoy myself though being alone!

I am always single since the day of my birth, so having no special someone during valentine's day is no big deal for me. I don't think it can only be celebrated with couples, it can also be celebrated with the company of our friends which I think is more special because our friends are constant, whatever happens to our lives, their presence are always there for us unlike love one that sometimes temporary, maybe this valentine's day you are together next valentine's day you are not.

Valentine's day should be celebrated not only for love ones but also for friends and family. Besides, almost people I know never go out with their boyfriend or girlfriend on February 14 itself because they find it silly and "baduy" and mostly they go out with their friends instead, so what's the difference anyway if we have no special someone on that day.

Valentine day is not only for couple but thos who are in love who have lost love everyone. I don't agree that its sales stratergy. Yes i am also alone as my girlfriend is not with me in the sence its not that she is with someone. Just because of some small misunderstanding she is telling she don't need me. It one year for now she left me but we do have touch through mesaages just because of me asking her to getback to me. Eventough i am alone on valentineday i will not be. Will just remember the sweet memories of our relationship from 5 years & spend that day. But i hope she gets back to me on that day because she knows that I love her a lot:)
