Is your meal ever complete without rice? |
|
Rice has always been our staple food. I can't imagine life without rice. IN our part of the country, we even eat "noodle" dishes with rice while some parts eat the "pansit" alone.
Foreign dishes have found its way through our taste buds, and some people have adapted foreign way of making dishes and eating. Still, I go searching for rice.
How about you?

Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | When I was younger, I always wanted to go to America because I've always been fascinated with their culture, and lifestyle. But when I got older, and opportunities to go abroad have opened up for me, I've slowly realized that nothing can beat home despite the many wonderful things foreign countries can offer. That's how I became "suki".
Back to rice, LOL, I've been thinking of the first thing I'll purchase when I get somewhere outside Philippines -- rice cooker.:-D

aisaellis22 (3530) | 11 months ago | wow! you mean you went to abroad already?
| |
|
|
Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | No...no....just opportunities. They haven't been realized yet. LOL. But my fellow nurses who are already abroad will always tell me that the first thing they missed was rice.
Do you know that feeling that you'll never miss the water until it's gone? Im starting to feel that now even if I haven't left.:-(

2. tigerdragon (2993) | 11 months ago | most asians can't go on without rice during major meal time like lunch and dinner. i got use to eating anything because being a busy person, there is no time to be picky about food. if there is pizza or suasage or pasta or even bread, i am ok with that. rice or no rice, i am still good!

Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | I bet you'll survive just about anywhere. But I heard that our modern lifestyle has caused us to poorly nourished. Pourly nourished being, deficient in the eessential nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Being obese doesn't exempt anyone from being called poorly nourished in contrary to what we've always known.
| |
|
|
Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | *allow me to make the necessary corrections so you won't think I flunked my English subject.LOL. I meant to say, "to be poorly nourished". And poorly instead of "pourly". LOL. Thanks for bearing with me. I typed so fast.

Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | Even with the increase in prices per kilo, Rice will always be rice and no "kamote" or any root crop, bread, or corn can ever replace it. Right? I can say it with so much conviction that nothing can beat rice!

Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | I tried that before-6 diet but I didn't do well because at 8 o clock I became hungry again so I ended up eating two suppers. LOL. I'm hopeless.

4. nengs10 (3137) | 11 months ago | Sometimes, I can take it without rice in my meal. But most of the time, I really can't stand without rice on my plate. I'm so used to that kind of lifestyle. Rice is a very important component for me. I'm always full with rice in my meal.

5. Unah08 (126) | 11 months ago | Yes i prefer eating rice every meal instead of having any rice substitute such as noodles, pasta, bread or rice cakes of any kind, but since I'm on a diet at the moemnt I did cut some portion of my rice consumption every meal so as not to increase my calorie intake because I do not do any intense physical activity due to my busy schedule in school.

| 6. Tatsinda (61) | 11 months ago | My family and I rarely have rice with our meals. Occasionally we'll have chicken and yellow rice, or sweet and sour chicken served over white rice, but these meals are only served two or three times a month. We usually have something like chicken, beef, or fish, served with a potato and a vegetable, and usually some kind of bread. Sometimes we do have something like a flavored rice pilaf, but it never makes up the biggest part of the meal. I do like rice a lot- my mom even eats cooked white rice with sugar and milk, like a cereal.

7. red_amethyst (1647) | 11 months ago | Hi theresaaiza, I can have complete meal without rice. When I was still studying, a complete breakfast for me can be a noodles with egg. That will make my stomach full and energize for the day. there are times that I just crave for other food like burger, pizza and it satisfies me also.

Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | I think it's the carbs from other food sources that makes you crave less for rice. But for me, nothing is as good as rice. Although carby foods tend to fill me up faster.

Anyway, you know what, I get gastritis out of eating too much bread so I got back to rice.

Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | Yah, I don't know. I just get that acidic feeling in my stomach after eating bread. It's probably the baking powder or egg or milk. I really can't tell.

Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | hi i seriously think you should try the riceless diet because I did that before and I lost a lot of weight in just two weeks. However, the problem with that is that you seem to be constantly hungry and you can't sustain if nobody can motivate you or no one is dieting along with you. I was motivated before because my bestfriend was so dedicated to it that iin 2 week's time she was able to wear her younger sister's jeans. I also reduced but since I was really bigger than her before the diet, I wasn't able to reach what she has achieved.

10. lilyoungfella (979) | 11 months ago | i can't even imagine myself eating "riceless" meal for the rest of my life. You see, rice is already a part of Filipino's daily diet. We're used to that..
| |

|
|
Theresaaiza (1601) | 11 months ago | I agree. IT's never the same without rice. I mean I can get by without rice for one meal in a day. But the next meal has to have rice.
