Michael Steele, the new chairman of the Republican National Committee, has asked the entire staff to resign. The RNC has about 100 staff members, many of whom have been told that their last day on the job will be Feb. 15.
President Obama's new team made a similar request at the Democratic National Committee.
Well it looks like the major parties are doing lay offs. Only in the form of "mandatory resignations". Lots of house cleaning on both sides. What do you think this will mean? How do you think the two parties will re-organize?

So what are they doing, getting rid of their workers and hiring all new ones or are they going to go without their staffs? I have no idea what all those staff members would be doing to begin with but what do I know...lol! It's hard telling what they'll do to reorganize but it seems the Democrats did their job pretty well but the RNC has some work to do. Some people laughed at former DNC Chairman Howard Dean when he announced his "50 State Strategy" but it worked! Look how many states the Democrats picked up in the Electoral Vote and how many House and Senate seats they've gained in the last two elections. I myself remember well how in the past the Democrats more or less conceded the south and many other traditionally "Red" states and didn't even try to win there but Dean refused to simply accept that. It will be interesting to see if Steele can do something similar for the GOP now that they're in the minority.

I understand why he did it...I just wonder why BOTH parties did it. The dems won...they ran good races..why get rid of those people?
I am sure they have a plan in both (both parties) and we will just have to wait and see what happens.

This sounds like a great idea, and I am sure there are many happy republicans, and democrats. You can only hope that the new groups can work with each other to help both of them to work together to help save the country, and make it better. The odds of this happening aren't very good, but hey we can dream, can't we?
