Michelle Obama spoke today at Howard University where she encouraged women to take action to shape their lives while trying to balance family, education, and work.

"The question that I hate most that we ask of young people is What are you going to be when you grow up? and the truth is, I still don't know and I am 45 years old. All I know is that it's important for you to be true to yourselves, not to worry too much about what other people are going to think or make of your choices, because everyone will question what you do and tell you you should've done it that way....So you know that in your struggle to figure these things out as women, as professionals, that you have to do what's right for you at any given time, and that's going to change from week to week, from month to month and year to year." Michelle said in her speech.

First Lady Michelle has been busy making her rounds to many schools, colleges and businessess in Washington. Thus far she has been warmly accepted and listened to. A welcome change I am sure. I personally am glad she is active and involved even as her husband President Obama is facing his own battles with the republicans in the Senate and House. She is able to move forward with her own agenda.

Michelle Obama is a very strong woman and knows what it takes to get it done. She is intelligent and plans her time. I applaud her for taking on such a responsibility as to be 1st lady. Although it may seem to everyone else that life is wonderful she is faced with a calendar that most working american women would not want.
