Do you use a remote to change the channel or do you do it manually? |
|
Let's say it's a Friday night. You're inside. Relaxing. And you want to change the channel on the television. Do you use the remote control or do you get up and do it manually? I brought this up because I was speaking to my aunt recently. She's an older woman and grandmother of three as well. And her grandchildren (which are my cousins) were all fighting because their father left the room and had just finished watching the news and said they could all now watch whatever they wanted. However, they could not find the remote and all ended up crying. My aunt (their grandma) went into the room and said "Do what I did as a little girl". And she changed the channel but pushing the button the television. The children stood their in fascination.*laughs out loud* Anyway, what are your thoughts on this?

2. bookreadermom08 (1848) | 11 months ago | LOL, I will have to say I will spend the 10 minutes to find the remote than to change the channel on the tv, it isnt like it was in the olden days and we have alot more channels to get through on the tv, vs using the remote, plus with our cable it tells us on screen what is on each channel so you dont have to wait for the commerical to get over to find out what is on.... technology, gotta love it!! LOL

Number1Femme (356) | 11 months ago | Yes it does not make life way more convenient. Especially if it is one of those nights you just want to lie in bed and watch tv and not have to get up every time you want to change the channel. But my aunt was right to a degree. With all the problems going in the world, loosing a remote control is not the end of the world. Anyway, thank you for your response zenki08.

It's just easier to push two buttons to type in the channel number for the channel you want, rather than walk across the room and hit the buttons over and over and over again until you reach the channel you want to watch. Sure, it may be lazy but it does save time. And, I for one hate the constant click click click sound the TV buttons make when you push them.

7. MarkieSparks7 (293) | 11 months ago | Well when i actually watch tv I use the remote but not cuz of laziness its because if I did it manually by the time i got through all the channels to the one I wanted the show would be long over and my finger would probably be cramped up.

8. thezone (2075) | 11 months ago | That is very true. The lost remote can cause a crisis on an epic scale. I remember when I was a kid, when we only had six channels that I used a long bamboo fishing net pole to change the channel.

9. aprilj1231 (230) | 11 months ago | I uh, change the channel with the remote control. I live to search for the remote, which always seems to come up missing when I want to change the channel. I would rather dig around and hunt it then walk to the tv and change the channel manually. I know that's silly. I actually remember having a tv you had to change by the knob because it didn't have a remote....I don't know how we ever survived it. I do know that my brother and I were my dad's remotes for years.
