Do You As Christian?

Yes, I do kerriann, and I have lived my life based on faith for as long as I can remember. There have been times when I thought that God had foresaken me but, looking back, I realized that I had to go through some hard times in order to come out the other side stronger and more determined. Life isn't supposesd to be easy all of the time...how boring would that be?

That we are living in tough economic times is evident daily. We might lose our job, if we haven't already lost it, and food prices are going up. And Jesus' model prayer shows us that it is proper to petition God for our daily needs such as food.

Matthew 6:11 (New Living Translation)

11 Give us today the food we need,

In fact, Matthew 6:19-33 teaches us the proper view of material necessities and where to place our focus. If we focus our lives on the kingdom of God and do what we can to procure our material necessities, God will no doubt bless our efforts. We will be taken care of!

33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Live a decent moderate life and most will not be affected. Nothing else is required.

I don't worry about the recession, I got Jesus!

I do hope and pray that my man Obama does a good job and make all these haters look absolutely as dumb as they look. Jehovah-jaira, Jehovah-shamma, Jehovah-raffa...my God has got my back!

The economy is bad. It's been bad before and people survived it Faith will, indeed, get us through this storm!

While God is the mighty one, people have still suffered, gone hungry, been homeless, raped, tormented, charged of being guilty when they were innoccent. It's something people face daily. It's not likely to change simply because people are going through money problems. Be that because God gave us freewill and simply gives us opportunities not to be those things, or whether it's out of our control. At this time the only thing you can depend on is humanity, your inner strength and the love of those around you. When you believe in that then you can get through anything.

I am a born again christian and it was not until I met my wife that I decided to become christian. The faith has brought me a lot of peace with much of the problems I had in the past. The recession is scary but God promises us that we will be provided what we need. We do not need HD tv's and expensive cars. The bible tells us how God feeds the birds and if he provides for the birds, imagine what he provides for us? Although it is scary where the world is headed, putting my faith in God has made things much easier to deal with.

I do believe God will provide for us. He has many, many time. I have to admit though sometimes when I drive by the pumps and see gas going up again I feel a twinge of worry. My faith needs some work doesn't it? Silly me. I know better. God has always taken care of me... and always will!

Great post Kerri. It reminds me of the Manna principle (in Exodus I believe). We need to learn to rely on God, not ourselves and not the public or private sector. The Israelites could not gather the Manna (their only source of food) because it would rot by the next day - so they had to rely on God to bring it to them fresh every day.

Placing one's life in God's will also mean doing what is supposed to be done in a right way. To start cheating due to recession would be to distrust God. God has made institutions and therefore to work through institutions to help people or to get oneself out of the problem is depend on God. We can take comfort that He is still in charge, and we need not worry.
