Boycotting Chris Brown's music! |
| |
| My favorite radio station will no longer play any songs by Chris Brown because of the recent incident, where he allegedly attacked and hit Rihanna. I for one think this is absolutely ridiculous! This radio station plays music by artists who've been busted for drug and gun possession, they play music by Whitney Houston who was certainly on drugs during a period of her life. They even play music by R. Kelly and we know what sort of trouble he's been in with possibly having sex with underage girls and video taping them and whatever else! But now they don't want to play Chris Brown's music because he supposedly hit Rihanna! Now I'm not saying he's innocent, and I'm not saying what he did was right. But is that any reason for a radio station to boycott him? Especially when they're not boycotting any of these other artists who've done so many other horrible things? What do you think? Has your radio station ever boycotted and artist because of something they've done outside of their professional career? | | | | | |

| | here in the uk they do this all of the time as it is seen to bring bad publicity on the radio stations if they are seen to be promoting the work of someone not wanted as a role model for our children, i understand your point though, if they are going to ban his music they should ban all who have committed a crime and also it hasnt been proved yet, what ever happened to innocent untill proven guilty, the media have already convicted and hung him by all accounts | | | | | | |

| | By playing their music it doesn't automatically tell kids to grow up and be exactly like that person. It's up to the parents to teach the children how to behave, regardless what sort of music they listen to. | | | |

| | I'm not exactly going to run out and buy a Chris Brown CD (I wouldn't have even before all this went down) but I do still want to hear his songs on the radio. From what I've seen and heard, I'm pretty certain he did it, otherwise I think he and Rihanna both would be fighting these rumors pretty hard, but that shouldn't have anything to do with the music he produces. | | | |

| | Hey kats! I have to agree with you on this! I don't think that what Chris Brown did was right, but I don't feel that the radio station has the right to boycott his music either. As you said, they play music by artists that have done alot worse things in their lives, like R.Kelly. I don't remember if at the time when he had all his trouble if the radio stations stopped playing his music, I don't think they did! It isn't their call to do so! If that was the case then they would have no music to play since most of the artists have, as you said been busted for drugs, gun possession and who knows what else! Playing their music should have nothing to do with what they've done! I understand that people are angry about what Chris Brown "allegedly" did to Rihanna, but that is between them and the law! | | | | | | |

| | And it's not even just lawful mistakes. Personally, I'd rather boycott Britney Spear's music because of what she's done over the past few years with her life. I've never liked the things I've heard about her and what she's done, and it only got worse when Kevin Federline came into her life. But never once did the radio station even dream of boycotting her music. I would have been all for that because I personally don't think she has any talent anyways! | | | |

| | I think I remember a radio station around here refusing to play anything by the Dixie Chicks after their Bush remark several years ago. I don't know if it lasted long or not. I think it is silly for them to ban Chris Browns music no matter what it is he did. They did not ban Britney after she endangered her son Sean Preston's life by driving with him on her lap. | | | | | | |

| | I agree that if Chris Brown did assault Rihanna that it was wrong. I don't feel that it is a reason to boycott his music however. I mean, come on, look at the things a whole lot of other artists have done. Did they boycott their music? Britney's been in rehab how many times? Like you said too, R. Kelly, Whitney Houston, Snoop Dogg, how about Akon? I've heard things on so many other artists that I think this is just ridiculous! I'm sorry, but if I were you, I would start a boycott to boycott the radio station! | | | | | | |

| | Unfortunatly it's one of the few decent radio stations in the area, but I only listen to it when I'm in the car, and even then it's rare. Usually I'm flipping stations until I find a good song, or I'm listening to my CD. | | | |
