 I am a lesbian (can't guarantee a guy would never sweep me off my feet but it is highly unlikely because there is no attraction to them in that way). However, I enjoy having male friends (not just gay men but straight men as well).
I like platonic relationships with them (going out to eat; taking a walk; just talking). There is no romance involved. Some people find this weird.
But I find it perfectly normal. Just as gay men enjoy being around feminine straight women, I am a lesbian who enjoys being around straight men. Why do people find this weird? What are your thoughts on it?

People probably find it odd that you can say.. I have a male friend whom I love... They would probably fall off their rocker hearing you say that because it's because they DONT want to understand and WONT try. Being open minding and looking at both sides of everything helps me see that it doesn't matter what others think, I do what makes me happy, and you are doing what makes you happy. I'm not interested in dating the women that I am friends with, we're just that, friends. I connect a lot better with women, men I just find really annoying.
My girlfriend enjoys the company of men. She would prefer to be friends with guys than over women. I can't understand it at all. It doesn't make any sense to me. I don't understand how women can really find the company of men more pleasurable than the company of women. Women and men are completely different people and they act so differently I can't see a common ground there that would make me want to be friends with nothing but men.
