Do you always have a birthday's cake every year?

For last ten years, I have not bought birthday's cake for my birhtday. My brother and sister bought it last year on their bday's. Even we enjoyed our parents marriage anniversary with cake.

But me: I don't like cutting cake on my bdays. I think I have not reached any landmark in my life to have a cake. I think when I will reach to a landmark; I will enjoy.

I always have a piece of cake and a candle to blow out! Since my children are grown and live far away, I buy a single slice at the grocery and use a small candle from a box I've had for a few years. I make a wish, blow it out and eat it then give each of the two dogs half of the last bite.

I'm proud of myself for making it this far, 55 years this next birthday, and I feel I should celebrate God's gift of life to me. Besides, it's still fun!

About cakes, my husband always buys cake whenever each one of us is having our birthday. Although we're not much into cakes, he feels like a cake is an important part of having our birthdays...:)

Hi Lia..I gave up a long time ago having birthday cakes mainly as I am not that fond of them and really haven't celebrated my birthday properly either...but its not just cos I'm getting older! littleowl

Happy Birthday HiLia! You have a very unique thinking and have a very special birthday celebration without any cake with candles on it this year. From your words I know your kids love cake very much and that’s what they protest and get angry for a short while, as they have lost a chance to taste the delicious cake. I think they enjoy the happy birthday atmosphere as well to sing the birthday song for their lovely mom, and to see you blowing the candles sitting on the cake.

I usually don’t have any cake and candles to celebrate my birthday. My husband usually would buy me some practical stuff and give me a treat at the nearby bakery café. If my son has holidays he would come back and to have our sweet time together in the restaurant.

One of my nephews has his birthday in the same month with me. Last year my sister brought a birthday cake and some chocolates to my house and we celebrated our birthday together in a very cheerful atmosphere. I entertained them with some yummy food and we took some memorable photos as well.

i cant say that is a birthday cake, but i make a point to buy a cake during my birthday and my childrens birthday as well. if the budget does not allow then i will but a small roll of cake for us to share. two of my children celebrates birthday during june and that is the season of school enrolment... so the budget is tight i just buy small roll of cake. but we are happy sharing

Happy sweet 36 birthday to you Hilia, You're still young and there are many more fruitful years ahead of you. Unlike me, am no longer a spring chicken, But age is only a number as deep down I do still feel I am in my 30s. I think birthday cakes are more meaningful for children. The decoration and the icing is something very tempting to the kids. I bake my own cakes but during my birthday I seldom have my own birthday cakes as I prefer to celebrate it in a different way. It is all beers and barbeques to entertain well wishers. I have much fun this way.

For me have cake is not a must. It can be account with finger when birthday have cake. My 5,17,20 birthday. Other there is no. But I have change with other food. Like rooster chiken,beef,and other. So anybody who join with birthdy can eat that food.

i don't always have birthday cake on my birthday it really varrie's there are some year i do want a cake, but in my childhood days i do always want to have acake on my birthday i think most kids expect cake on their birthday and so do i. but now i am getting older having cake on my birthday doesn't important anymore..lol...

Umm I haven't really acknowledged my birthday since I was about 17, so no I don't have a birthday cake.
My own birthday is just any other regular day as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds kind of sad now that I think about it, but it doesn't really bother me that much.
