Can you explain the difference?

My teacher once told his EX this,
"I love you, but I no longer in love with you"
it bothered me for a moment, because i just can't get the thought of his statement.
Even now, still don't know what does he meant when he told his EX with that.

Well dont know much about that but loving somebody may be one sided that you only give your love to someone not wanting anything in return...and being in love is I feel mutual feeling...

Being IN love is a commitment and sacrafice. You are always concerned about the other person before yourself, and when they are happy, your happy, when they are sad, your sad. You can figure out what they are thinking and can read them with out having to say a word. It's loving them unconditionally.

Loving someone romantically is more like lust, you like to spend your time with them but don't see anything with them. It's kinda like a fling, only there for the good times.

Loving someone is more permanent, but being in love is fleeting. The latter is another word for infatuation. It is based on the moment, on the physical attraction. However when you love someone, it does not matter if they have a face that will stop a clock, you love them for what they are, what they do.
But then it does get a bit difficult because sometimes you can really get annoyed at someone and still love that person romantically, and then you can be in love with a person, but you would not want to live with that person day after day.
I still do not know the difference yet, only what it sounds like to me.
