Creating DVD's

Recently my father passed leaving myself and my siblings "orphans" we lost our mother many years ago suddenly.

I have decided to make a DVD chronicling the lives of both parents growing up as well as their life together from their childhood to ours to all of us in adulthood.

I have a program that came with my computer however what I am looking for is ideas or suggestions to make the dvd interesting, it will be a whole series of pictures that I have inherited from the family all put into a slideshow which can be played on a dvd player in memory of my parents.

I hope to have this completed for Christmas and give it to them....

Any Suggestions on making it something special?
