My Optical Mouse And Now My Keyboard............  

I've had this happen and fairly recently, Irish. While working with Excel, it would copy cells, but paste only three lines. I ran SuperAntiSpyware to no avail, but a reboot did it.

Sometimes computers just get overwhelmed. Give a cold start a try. Betcha it'll work. Can't hurt. Your computer just might need a two-minute break.

I suggest to get a good alkaline battery/Rechargeable battery ..
With that your mouse and keyboard would power longer..

If it is not a laser mouse I'd suggest looking at the rolling ball to see if any dust or fuzzy material from your mouse pad has gotten into there. I know it used to be a huge problem with my old mouse!

I get that from time to time certainly on my mouse (my keyboard is hard wired) and there's no real cure, you just have to put up with sticky for a short bit. My most effective ways of clearing it up are to use the connect buttons on the reciever and the mouse, then just forcefully knock it against the desk untill it works again.

i don't really know what i'm doing, and i don't know if it will help, but try giving the mouse some cheese and tuning the keyboard.

OK....OK.....just kidding, i still don't know if it will help (and i still don't know what i'm doing) but you can TRY going to your control panel....."start">>>"control panel" there you will see an icon for "mouse" and "keyboard."

open them one at a time and click on "hardware"......it should have some writing which mine ends with device status: this device is working properly.

even if it says that, or if it says some thing different, click on "troubleshoot" and it will walk you through different scenarios.

do this for both your mouse and your keyboard and get back to me if it works so i can feel really smart.

it is easy to fix your problem in my opinion, you just need to prepare your money to buy new one...hehehe, because it may be the sensor will broken slowly so to repair the sensor it is same or more expensive than buy new one. for the keyboard look like getting old or dirty so you can take out the button one by one to clean up then open the chasing screw in the bottom to take out the plastic PCB then clean up.

My mouse has been playing up to. It gets jerky or sticky and sometimes I
have to click on things twice to make it work. I have no idea what the
problem is or what to do. It's a real pain in the patootie though
especially when I'm trying to play a game.

You know, if you would quit drooling on your keyboard while visiting those "certain" on-line sites, this wouldn't happen.
