1. baileycows (3416) | 10 months ago | I live by faith of course because I have never seen God. But I am Baptist by religion. Any religion has to live by faith because the Bible says that no one will see God and live. So if you have seen God then you are not with us. So I doubt you are mylotting.

2. NuttyMomma (651) | 10 months ago | having been raised in a church and then as an adult having negative experiences with organized religion i can say that i live my life having a strong faith in god and i try to live by the golden rule which is taught in many forms in many different religions. i think some people need the ritual of going to church and such but for me i had a good "base" and i choose not to be part of any church.

3. Anora_Eldorath (2597) | 10 months ago | I really get nervous when people start throwing around the term "religion" in a conversation. "My religion....". You know the types of conversations, and they tend to end in "My religion is better then your religion". I believe that faith is what you have, that relationship with the Divine.
My husband actually created his own paradigm based upon something a buddy of his in the military once told him. He said "You're a student of life", and thus was born our path. Not that we don't study other religions and beliefs. I grew up Roman Catholic.
I was actually initiated into the Student of Life paradigm in 2005, and later initiated as High Priestess. (Lots of work mind you). Before that after I left the Baptist church I simply referred to myself as pagan. To me, it's just an umbrella term though covering a plethera of beliefs.
I would say the popular religion in Minnesota is Lutheran. Most here are Lutheran, and I even attend a Lutheran college. (I'm a graduate student).
I'm not sure if I feel "persecuted", but I definately think there is a lot of misinformation out there concerning those who are pagan. It though that there is a lot of misinformation regarding most religions out there though.
I have learne that in teaching, I don't mention it. There is seperation of church and state, but I don't even share with collegagues when asked what I believe. There is no point, and witch hunts are still very real. Funny though, because the very ones that complain about one being a witch are the first ones running wanting a spell done!

5. dragon54u (9428) | 10 months ago | I'm a Presbyterian by birth, practically. Sometimes I go to church, probably 4-6 times a year. It's nice, I like it. But my life is lived by faith, not my religion. I haven't yet found a religion that practices what I believe and if I did it would be quickly perverted by opportunists so that it would make money for them. So I worship God in my own way on my own time and try to live the way He taught and still teaches.
Yes, I'm persecuted because I'm a Christian. But it's almost non-existent here in the Midwest. When I lived in the Southwest (U.S.) Christians weren't allowed to have Nativities in front of their churches, they couldn't ring their church bells but the Muslim call to faith could sound over loudspeakers five times a day. I have nothing against true Muslims (true Islam is much like Christianity) but to allow them to call to worship and to silence Christians is immoral. We couldn't say Christmas out there, just "winter holidays" and carols were banned from the schools as was Easter. An art gallery got fined for having a statue of Christ in the street.
That's one of the reasons I returned to the Midwest. There really isn't any persecution here and people generally accept any religion that's peaceful.

7. Awen_Eldorath (61) | 10 months ago | I consider myself a Student of Life; I see my wife has already mentioned how I came upon this term. It's one label I actually like because it's general enough that I don't tend to get persecuted as noone quite knows what it means, lol.
I think that studying differant religions and faith traditions is important, as it helps us learn about the world we live in, the people around us, and even ourselves. At the same time, however, I tend to distrust organized religion because of all the atrocities that have been commited in the name of "god".
As the Book of the Law says, "I offer certainty, not faith, while alive; upon death, peace unutterable." I am striving for this certainty and peace profound even as I type. I suppose you could say that I have "faith" that I will be able to live it every day in every way.

9. violeta_va (1982) | 10 months ago | I am Christian Orthodox nor rusian nor Greek. I belong to the Macedonian Orthodox church. We still use the old calendar. We are always under presure to change or partly change to the new calendar and to merge with other orthodox churches. Most of them dont recognise us but who cares we know who we are.
