30th Birthday in Vegas | | I am headed to Las Vegas for my birthday. The only thing I know I definately want to do is sky dive. I was curious if anyone who has been to Las Vegas has any great ideas of things you should do while visiting. I will be there for four days. Any ideas suggestions or comments would be great.

Haven't tried skydiving there but it seems to be good experience. Try some of the clubs for different night life. Another activity is walking along the street that locals called "The Strip". This is where all the famous casinos and hotels are. There are so much to see especially at night- the lights are just so magnificent. You might want to try their zoo as a morning activity. Haven't been there but some says it is an enjoyable activity as well.

Do a little research and see what styles you might be interested in seeing, as they all are different and have their own themes. I don't know where your budget is set, but they have discount tickets available at these special stores on the strip. You have to get there early though, but sometimes you can save 25% or more on the ticket price. But is theres a show you really want to see, you might want to just splurge to make sure you get to see it.
Have you ever been to Vegas? There are several free/cheap things to do. There's the volcano at the Mirage(free-not too exciting, but it's one of the things to see), the pirate show at treasure Island(free-shows at regular interval in the evenings weather permitting), the fountains at Bellagio(free-I love these, it's not the most exciting thing if all you want to do is party, but it falls under one of the things to see), the Eiffel Tower(cheap, but not free- offers a pretty nice view of the strip I'd go at night), NY NY rollercoaster(cheap, but not free- not the scariest coaster in the world, but it is cool as it goes in and out of the hotel), The Stratosphere thrill rides(no idea how much these are...no way i'm going up there....they have the tower that shoots you up, a ride that hangs you over the edge of the tower and a coaster up there... ), the Freemont Street Experience(free, but you have to get over there, we caught a cab...this is in the old downtown area of Vegas. They enclosed the main street and put up a dome with thousands of lights and do a light show at night. I went once and wasn't terribly impressed. It falls under a thing to do.) That's all i can think of as far as that stuff goes.
Most of the hotels have little tourism stands/booths tucked in somewhere. They can tell you about helicopter rides, or trips to Hoover Damn...that kind of stuff. There are also places along the strip where you can rent scooters, motorycles or cars if you want to try and have your own adventure.
There is also lots and lots of shopping available. Several of the big hotels, Ceasars, The Venetian, and I think Planet Hollywood have full malls with lots of different, specialty, and high end stores. Window shopping is free! There are a ton of souvenier shops on the strip with the cheap t-shirts and keychains and whatever. There are also some cool specialty shops on the strip (like the M&M store).
Ok, i'm gonna stop, because i've already rambled long enough. I love Vegas and always have fun. Tons to do, tons to eat...have fun!

meggan79 (520) | 11 months ago | This is my first time going to Vegas. I set my budget at 1,000 for everything (excluding hotel and flight cause that is paid for). I think I am definately going to put the Stratosphere ride on my list of things to do. Lots of great advice. Thank you.
