What foods are druetic by Nature? |

| I will not take water pills or duretics as they are called. But I would like to get rid of some water weight. Can anyone please tell me what foods are duretic by nature? Someone posted that in my last discusssion about retaining water and it got me to thinking. Im wondering if I may have some of these foods in my house. Does anyone know the answer to this? Is it mainly one food or are there alot of themm? Can you please let me know what they are? | | | | | |

| | Drinks that are diuretics are green tea, apple cider vinegar and cranberry juice. There are several veggies and fruits that work also. You might try eating watermelon, cucumbers, watercress, artichokes, lettuce, asparagus, tomatoes, beets, brussel sprouts and oats. All are diuretics. Just be careful not to overdo eating these foods because it can cause dehydration. I do take a water pill and have for years. The only difference I can tell in my system is my fingers aren't swollen in the morning when I wake up. I don't make mega trips to the bathroom througout the daym evening or night. Also watch your salt intake. Don't use any salt when cooking unless you use a salt substitute. | | | | | | |

| | I can tell you watermelon works very well..lol I love it but don't eat it too often unless I am home and have extra toilet paper! So far I haven't had any problems with a water pill. Been on one for about 20 years. | | | |

| | hi caroll, potatoes and rice are mild diuretics as well. Hope it works out when you eat more naturally diuretic foods. Some people say that cucumbers are great diuretics. | | | | | | |

| | there even is a very good potato diet, where lunch and dinner consist mainly of potatoes, and veggies or salads. I did that too years ago and it worked fine for me. In 2-3 weeks I had lost about 8-10 pounds and I kept that weight off for quite a long time too. Theres a good cookingbook to that but unfortunately its German. I would do it in a second but I dont know whether its compatible with being diabetic. | | | |

| | Water is a natural diuretic, drink lots of water, lay off the salt and you will find yourself losing lots of water weight if you have been storing water. Coffee, the caffeine in coffee is a great diuretic, so is beer if you drink it. Watermelon also, because of the water content. | | | | | | |

| | THe answer is parsley. Wash a bunch of fresh parsley, throw in boiling water and let it stand for at least 5 minutes. Drink it instead of drinking water. It can be drunk warm or cold, as you please. | | | | | | |
