Ugh, you've started a mind boggling discussion here. To be honest, I've been married several times and I think it's safe to say that this latest (and last) relationship of mine has gone this long because of patience. I've lost so many happy years of what could have been because I was saddled with the wrong guy. At first, he was all into me, making me feel special and happy. Then, as the years went by we discovered that I wasn't willing to change or bend in such a way to be what they wanted. Just know who and what you are and try to remain that person. Yes, it's good to change somethings, but only if you're completely willing.

Another way of knowing is by trial and error. When I was little, I wanted a tall, dark hair, dark eyed, officer in the military (my father was one so I looked up to him because of that) and loves children...and older than me. I found several men like that but they lacked something I couldn't bring into their hearts. My current boyfriend is redhair, blue eyes, younger and an enlisted in the Army. So, expect to change what you want.

Things to keep the relationship "green"...I can't tell you but know what you two love about each other and always try to keep that alive. A friend of mine wrote to me (because my boyfriend wasn't writing me in weeks) to always write to him with the same love and fire as if he's writing all the time.
