My flowers lasted two weeks already! |
| |
| Hi everyone... I got some beautiful flowers on Valentine's Day and they are still beautiful. They came with some plant food, and I have changed their water and fed them each time. There are some roses, and some white flowers that I don't know what they are, and carnations, with baby's breath in there and some greenery. They are still beautiful. One has started to wilt and that is all so far. Have you had flowers last this long before? I am not a flower person.. don't know one flower from another except daisies, and violets, and some others.. but I just don't know much about flowers. I am so happy that they have lasted this long. They are decorating my desk all this time and they still look pretty. Ladies, are your valentine flowers still alive and well? I'm going to hate when they die. I wish I could preserve them somehow. | | | | | |

Close BOOK and put in a out of the way place with a heavy weight on it (use of House bricks is good) and leave and forget. Some day in the next few years you might like to have a look at your PRESSED FLOWERS. There we go you have them forever. HICCUP/ | | | | | | |

| | Hi, Oreo, I got a carnation for Valentine's Day and it is still looking pretty good. I don't have any of that plant food for mine, but I am sure it had some when it started out at the florist's. When I was very young, I used to think that I would have fresh flowers in my home at all times. That dream has not become a reality, but I enjoy them when I can get them. I do bring in my roses from my white bush in the summer. They don't last long. Petals start to fall off pretty quickly. | | | | | | |

| | You must have given much care for the flowers. They are kept still pretty well enought to make into preserved ones. As i once saw on site, people put them in refrigerators for a while, take out and dry them, then spray with certain kind of hair spray. They can last for ever. I have never done it, better you check online, and have a try. Good luck. | | | | | | |

| | I have never been able to keep cut flowers alive. I would use all the tricks I had ever read about or heard of but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't keep cut flowers fresh longer than two or three days. | | | | | | |

| | You could press them, or, as they start to finally wilt gather the bunch together, wrap an elastic around the stems and hang them upside down. They will 'dry' and may turn color a bit, but within a few days, you will be able to spray the bunch with hairspray and put them in a vase (right side up! lol) and keep them forever! | | | | | | |

| | I like this idea the best. Thanks! I will do this while they are still pretty. | | | |

| | It will work well for the carnations and roses and baby's breath, but I'm not sure about the others as I can't really tell what they are. But good luck, and don't be discouraged if the roses darken in color. That is inevitable. It should still make a pretty bouquet and don't get rid of the greenery. Keep in with the flowers when you turn them upside down. They will stay green a long time.... | | | |

| | I changed the water 3 times already. When the water starts turning brown I change it. I still have enough food for another water change. After that.. if they start to wilt I will do what Sparks said. Thanks! | | | |

| | That is a wonderful idea that sparks had. I'd do that too. I've also been told my people that know, putting an asprin in the water makes them last longer too. | | | |

| | No, I haven't used an aspirin yet in them.. I am just using the food that came with them. I have enough food for one more water change. I change the water about every 4 or 5 days. | | | |
