DVD Help |
| |
| I have a Windows XP and it used to upload pictures from DVD-R camcorder discs onto my hard drive with no problem. Now, whenever I put one in the DVD+/- RW drive it doesn't even acknowledge it's in there. So I've tried inserting and -RW DVD, but it does the same thing and now I have all these memories that I would like to share with my scattered relatives but they are all on the DVD's. I would like to know is something wrong with my computer or do I need to use a different kind of Camcorder disc? If you know how I could solve this, please help! Thank you so much! Sophie | | | | | |

| | Hi I think you would have tried with other cd/dvd's. According to what you said, i think you are able to view the dvd drive when you open "My computer". The problem might be that, there may be some loose contact with the "Data cable" of your drive. So try opening your cabinet and check whether the cable is being fit properly. Because i faced the same problem in my pc before, however things became normal when i fixed the data cable after i found the mistake. Tell me if you found this useful. Thank you | | | | | | |

| | But I don't want to open up my computer and break it by accident because I didn't know what or where the data cable is. | | | |

| | Sometimes I used to be able to insert a disc and it would ask what I would want to do, after I clicked it, it wouldn't respond to what I clicked on. | | | |

| | But if the data cable is the real issue, you must gain knowledge about the parts of CPU and got to fix with that. If you can't do it, handover your cpu to a service man . . . | | | |

| | Hi Sophie, Try following steps. This might solve your problem. 1. Click on START button. 2. Select RUN. 3. Type REGEDIT and hit OK. 4. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. 5. Expand SYSTEM. 6. Expand CurrentControlSet. 7. Expand Control. 8. Expand Class. 9. Click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} 10. Now check the right pane. 11. Look for UpperFilters and LowerFilters (can be both or either of them). 12. Delete UpperFilters and LowerFilters. 13. Close the Registry Editor. 14. Click on START button. 15. Right-click on MY COMPUTER. 16. Click on PROPERTIES. 17. Click on HARDWARE tab. 18. Click on DEVICE MANAGER button. 19. Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives. 20. Delete your DVD Drive. 21. Restart the Computer. Your DVD drive will be reinstalled automatically when the Computer restarts. And this should solve your problem. Else check your DVDs on any other drive. If your DVDs work on other drives, then probably your Computer's DVD Drive is bad. | | | | | | |

| | Did you try reading your DVD on a different Computer or a Laptop? Also check any other DVD or CD on this drive. | | | |
