Are people taking less personal responsibility for themselves today?   

I do have to agree with your statement. It seems that no one wants to be responsible for their own personal actions. I can't stand it when I see someone who deliberatly did something they knew was wrong, and then tried to blame someone else. If you steal, and get caught, admit it, you %^#%^ up, you got caught.

Its that simple.

You happen to have a great post here. I can't agree with you more. I know of a situation here that is just getting out of control. It is the cashier at my local store. She rings up our stuff and some she does not. Then she collects less money than should be and keeps some change for herself. I was wondering if I should say something. But,a friend said no she will loose her job.

The stealing thing. My daughter has a friend who cleans Victoria secret out. And that store Aero postale. My goodness. But,again your very right here.

It really does seem that there are less and less people who are taking personal responsibilities for their actions. It seems that more and more people are blaming other people for things that are these people's fault to begin with. People aren't willing to admit that they did something wrong.

People love to play the blame game, we live in a litigous society, It wasn't my fault so it must be yours. Taking responibility is standing up and being a man or woman of integrity. I've had to take the blame and you know what, people were more lienient with me because of it, that doesn't negat what I did but they sure looked at me differently after that. It was Ghandi that said, "You have to be the change you want to see in the world."

I agree with what you are saying! I see this at work all the time! I work in food service. When one of the cooks or people in the pantry screw up they never will admit they made a mistake and then blame it on someone else! I work in food service at a small college. When damage is done in one of the dorms the person(s) that did won't come forward! When that happens everyone in the dorm have to pay for the damages,even if they had nothing to do with it! I also see guys not taking responsablity for the childen they father! So as you know it is all around us!

And WHO encouraged said Americans and who followed American habits? Hmmm?
I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just saying...it's not all us Americans' blame (we who didn't make any stupid decisions who also happen to live here kinda get tired of hearing about iiitt when no equal due is given to the rest of the stupid people...'cause it was a worldwide thing, America just helped way too much with it).

Anyway, personal responsibility? Hmm. Every time I mentioned it, as I've grown up, to anyone other than my parents...they mostly laughed at me. People didn't want to take responsibility. It was too easy not to be, I think. It made them complacent, a little spoiled and selfish, apathetic, and uncaring about those around them.

Me? I take it very seriously.
