How do you take care of longer hair so it doesn't tangle? |
| |
| My hair is at it's longest and I need a different shampoo or conditioner or something cause it's starting to tangle. I got a leave in conditioner and it helps some. Any other ideas? | | | | | |

| | My hair tangles easily depending on what shampoo I use. I always use an extra moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and never use very hot water. I comb the conditioner through my hair to get rid of any tangles then let the conditioner sit another minute or 2 before rinsing. This seems to work for me. I have thick dry hair that tends to get frizzy too. Hope it helps :) | | | | | | |

| | Thanks, does the hot water dry the hair out or something? | | | |

| | It seems to dry mine out. I've noticed a big difference since I stopped using hot water, my hair is alot shinier now too. If you decide to try it, let me know how it works for you. :) | | | |

| | Well, I know that if you do a final rinse with cold water on your hair it does make it shinier. Also if you blow dry it and then use the cool setting afterwards it makes it shinier as well. | | | |

| | my hair gets too stringy looking when it gets to long. But I believe that using the cold water when rinsing your hair has the same effect as when you wash your face, and rinse with cold water to close the pores. | | | |

| | I have been using a kid's detangler lately because my niece's have longer hair and use this kind. The one in the green bottle with an orange sprayer. It smells like apples. I also just got a wider tooth comb. I haven't tried it yet. I have heard that a cool rinse seals the cuticle so it won't tangle so easily. I just hate cold water on my head though. Good luck to you! | | | | | | |

| | I discovered this tip on myLot a while ago and have been singing its praises ever since. Forget the commercial detanglers and leave in conditioners, they pretty much suck. Mix water and your favourite conditioner in a spray bottle and shake it up then use it like a regular leave in conditioner. I use this on my four year old daughter's hair which is down to her bum. She doesn't complain nearly as much since I started using it. I also braid it at night so in the morning it is easy to brush out. | | | | | | |

| | I had a discussion about this subject recently and someone suggested not wasting money on commercial detanglers. That I should put a smidge of conditioner in a spray bottle and fill with water. Also, you should be gentle when washing and conditioning and then when towel-drying. Recently I have started using the Walmart version of Pantene Sleek and Smooth. It is amazing. | | | | | | |

| | I have a tip and I hope this will help you. I am growing my hair long too and it tangles every time after wash. However recently I have tried avoiding using a towel when drying up my hair. I just pat my hair with the towel and then let it dry naturally. My hair is more manageable after that. Provided that I also use conditioner, like you. | | | | | | |
