How organized are you? |
Some people just delete everything in their email. Other people just keep everything. There are still another group that is even more intriguing.
Do you organize the email you receive? By this, I am referring to creating folders for specific recipients.
Do you use the filters provided to make sure you can find a particular email later?
I personally am a neat freak and I have folders for everyone. I keep most of my emails and only delete those I deem unnecessary.

3. muscles4me (9195) | 11 months ago | I have folders for topics like, inspirational, fitness, health, funny stuff etc. I look at unread email as if it was unfunished work if it were a job and it drives me nutso. So recently I have unsubscribed to many newsletters.

| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 11 months ago | Oh, subscribing to many newsletters can be very daunting. Giving them folders is a great idea. I used to do this, too. With time I stopped the newsletters. Now, I just manage emails from my friends, family and things like mylot. It can all drive us nuts. It just takes a lot of time and effort to sort through the mess.

4. dawnald (10373) | 11 months ago | I have folders and I am adding more of them to try and keep things organized. I confess I deleted a whole bunch of joke e-mails last week though. I just could not catch up so I gave myself a fresh start!

5. TnWoman (1553) | 11 months ago | hello leonelaphotography
i have an e-mail folder for my Mylot mail only that i created not long ago. that way, all that i have to do to see all of the Mylot discussions that my friend's have started, is click on the Mylot folder. it makes it lots easier for me to make a folder like that off of my e-mail page so that my main e-mail inbox doesn't stay full all of the time, less cluttered. and i have your Mylot notification turned on for you and for some strange reason, i have not recieved one of your new Mylot discussions? i went to look last night if your notification was on, and sure enough it is. i do not understand it. but i am responding to your Mylot discussions right now from off of your Mylot profile page. also on the Mylot folder that i made for my e-mail notifications to go in, i can type somebody's Mylot screen name into the search bar and the e-mail program finds all of that one member's Mylot discussions for me. that makes everything simple. maybe i should contact Mylot with why that i am not receiving some of my Mylot friend's notifications. right?
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

leonelaphotography (922) | 11 months ago | I had the same problem about the notifications until I changed my email address. Suddenly my myLot folder on Yahoo! is getting quite fat! LOL
You are right about the in box issue. I hate the thought of using the search filter just for the main in box. I'd rather have the folders and I can sort it to show the messages the way I want.

6. bubblyapple (1412) | 11 months ago | I am not organized. However, I do save some messages from years ago and they are saved by the dates I received them.
| |
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 11 months ago | ...and do you keep them in a separate folder or do they stay in the in box?

7. eichs1 (1331) | 11 months ago | I used to do this when I was still working. I am receiving lots of e-mails from different people so I have to keep my inbox organized. I also have to keep the mails from each recipient even if the subject was fully discussed or settled for future references. But for my personal e-mail, I receive only few messages so there's no need to create additional folders.
| |
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 11 months ago | Oh, absolutely! For work it's really important to keep them organized. Personal e-mail on the other hand depends on each individual. Thanks for your input.

9. dpk262006 (9125) | 11 months ago | I think you adopt the right approach by organising your mail and it shows how organised you are. I have not created folders for future reference. However, I keep deleting the unnecessary and unwanted mail. I have recently come to know that there are some sites, which work as mail filters (sadly was not aware about it earlier) and now I am using filters.
| |
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 11 months ago | The good thing is that you are now using the filters. It will help you spend less time in your e-mail cleaning up and more time replying to legitimate ones you do keep.
| |
dpk262006 (9125) | 11 months ago | I also hope so that filters will help screening the unwanted mail.
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 10 months ago | The best thing we can do is make sure our email address is not something like ab123456@yahoo.com Those are more likely to get spam. It's better to come up with something genuine and catchy like libby_s_mylot@yahoo.com That way spammers have a harder time sending you something.

dpk262006 (9125) | 10 months ago | Your suggestion appears very useful and excellent and I agree with you.

10. bagumbayan (1766) | 11 months ago | I am not that organized. I dont put things to folders my email I mean. I just open up my email and erase those unwanted ones. There must be a key to our email add so that not any one can just send us anything without value at all. Happy e-mailing.
| |
| |
leonelaphotography (922) | 11 months ago | I'm not sure what you mean by no value? Do you mean meaningless spam?
| |
bagumbayan (1766) | 11 months ago | Sort of. Those spams keep on coming and coming. Although I do have filters but still there are lots of mails coming in.
