Can Your Boss Trust You?

I agree with you totally. I believe it is stealing. I ask myself, "If I were running this place, would I be happy with my performance?" I like to look at it from the boss's point of view and then most of the excuses of why I should not work hard or work only when being watched pretty much goes out the window. This has served me well over the years as others were laid off around me and I continued to keep my job. This is also part of what helped me to land a really good job in the auto industry during the 70's.

I told my nephew about this work ethic when he first started working through a temporary work agency. One of the temporary employers called my nephew back after the job was done to tell him that he was the only one wanted back for the next round of work. This was out of a group of over twenty people. The boss said it was because he was the only person who didn't sit around when he finished a job. He went to the boss and asked for more work. The boss did not have to run behind and check on him all the time. How refreshing.

I've always had a lot of responsibility in the jobs I've had so I would definitely stay and make sure that I did my job. "An honest day's pay for an honest day's work" is an old saying that I took to heart a long time ago. Maybe that's why I've gotten so far in life...at least before I gave it all up and ran away to Florida.
