There is probably quite a lot of classified information on those tapes that would be seriously detrimental to US security if exposed.

National security is always paramount. Always.

Doesn't it make more sense to edit the "sensitive" parts out rather than destroying the entire tape though? Don't get me wrong...I realise that there are going to be things on those tapes that can not be allowed as public knowledge...I have no problem there.

But if they start tampering with the tapes then the ACLU will simply say they are hiding things anyway. And editing the tape compromises context and would allow the hearer to make whatever inference they wanted.

I have a real problem with the ACLU trying to compromise national security. They don't have a problem with our kids being indoctrinated with Islam in public schools in California but god forbid a suspected terrorist experience a little discomfort.

Our priorities in this nation are seriously fcked up and our kids will pay the price.

I imagine that there is a feverish amount of work going on to 'get rid' of a evidence that supports a complicit theory- like they can do whatever they want and have been. security of a nation is a vital thing and in the process of protecting a nation sometimes 'darker' methods are required to obtain results. Undercover agents/operatives need protecting but where is the accountability for doing something really wrong?
