2. catdla1 (2685) | 10 months ago | I have tried a friendship bread, but not sure if it's the same one. I was in Massachusetts at the time. The recipe involved using a butter milk starter. The starter was given to you by a friend, and you used it in the recipe. You then made another batch of the starter to pass along to another friend. If I remember correctly (it's been a while) the starter was the leavening agent. Does that sound like what you did?

catdla1 (2685) | 10 months ago | I remember that it was good, but don't remember much except having to wait 10 days...lol. Now I'm curious and will have to look up the recipe. Thanks, I'll probably make it again. If you like to bake, I have an Irish Soda Bread recipe you might like. Send me a private message, and I'll forward.

5. twoey68 (9619) | 4 months ago | I've always thought about making that kind of bread but it kind of grosses me out that it sits out for so many days and then you use some to make the bread and the rest you rebuild into another starter...I'd just think the starter would get rancid sitting out for days and then being reused as the next starter. My sister in law gave us a ziplock with a batter in it and it had to sit for so many days, have things added to it on certain days and then split up and part of it was baked and part of it was split up into new bags to start again. It was allright but I'm still not sure about it.
