Who does your taxes? You, or an accountant?  

I do my taxes online using EZ Tax Return. I used to do my own and mail it in, but when you do it online it goes directly to your bank account in less than 3 weeks. I think I paid $40 last time I did it.

After I graduated from high school and started working full time parents taught me how to do my own taxes when tax time rolled around. It wasn't difficult and I've been doing them myself for over 30 years. Along the way I took some accounting courses in college and became comfortable enough to do business taxes. A lot of people are intimidated by the IRS though and are too afraid to do their own takes "incase" they are audited. I feel bad for them because they are being ripped off.

I used to do my own, but my mom is a bookeeper so i just let her do them. She does oeverything on the computer and in no time flat.

There is a check exchange that also doubles as a tax preparation place during tax season, and for the past couple of years, we've been doing business with each other ever since. It works for me.

I do my own taxes and my of my friends taxes as well. I understand them quite well and of course being a book keeper and accountant makes it easier. I file on line and have my money deposited into my bank account.

I have an accountant do it. I used to do it myself but now with the business I need to make sure I'm not leaving out anything. My accountant also gives advices about anything financial we ask him. It helps because we'd rather focus on earning money and saving rather than sitting down do tax calculation. He doesn't charge much because I enter all the data periodically, he only have to do year end tax return for both of us.

hi, you remind me I still have to do the taxes, with this post, We can do them till May 31 so I have enough time to do them I hope. I will not get any back I think, as I pay a bit beforehand every 3 months...... sigh.
I do the taxes myself because I dont want to pay an accountant to do them for me when I know I wont get much back anyways if any.

My husband always does our taxes. For a while he was a tax preparer so he knows what he is doing. We always use an electronic filing software and submit them electronically. I just can't get over how much tax preparers or places like H & R Block charge. I don't really think you need an accountant or anything like that unless you are earning tons of money or have a business or something. That is just my opinion though.

Ever since I was 16, I've always had H&R Block do my taxes. Even this year I had them do it... well, due to complications with my taxes I had to go down to the local IRS office. I don't know how many people know about this, but your local IRS office (if it's like mine) will due your taxes there for FREE and you can have your refund in 8-10 days. I think I'll be doing that next year since H&R Block charges me $350+ every year.

I have been doing my own taxes since I began to work. It was really easy back then. Now it is so much more difficult. I own property, I inherited stocks, I have an ira, etc. I hate to pay to have someone do my taxes. My bf paid H&R Block $350 to do his taxes (I offered to do it for free) and they made a mistake. Took it forever to be corrected. But they waived their fee.
